Does anybody know a solution for a slow macbook pro 2012, before taking it to the apple store?

Here are a couple of things you might want try :
empty your trash
empty your download folders
clean up your desktop
back up your computer
update your OS if applicable
you might also check if there is anymore capacity left to up your memory

I have a 2012 MBP. Please advise of the followng....
Which OS are you using?
How large is your HD & how much storage is left?
How much RAM do you have? Is it maxed out?
Have you calibrated your MBP per the manual instructions? Every month or every other month?
Repaired permissions & restarted your MBP?
