I will NEVER buy another Dell computer.   I bought mine 27 months ago for about $600 and didn't buy the contract based on all the "glowing reviews".

To date, I have spent over $1,000 on repairs for this dud.

My next laptop will be an HP ..... no more Dells for me!!

I have two, I ordered from HP and they are both great. I also got a new Acer for my daughter who is in college great CS and they  speak english. And please do not buy though any shopping channel. Older computers with software you will never use or need.

I just got a Toshiba Chromebook from Amazon and love it!  Previously had an HP laptop which lasted five years until it crashed.  I'm retired and don't need all the bells and whistles, plus we are not computer savvy.  The Toshiba is perfect for me.

I'm glad that you're happy with your Chromebook, @twinsister. I was curious about it, so I went to take a look at it.

That's a really nice-looking Chromebook! Smiley Happy

I have an 11.6" HP Chromebook that I have been using since November of last year, and I really like using it.

My DH has had his longer than I've had mine. He uses an Acer Chromebook.

I was using his for awhile, until I decided what kind of computer I wanted to get after our Windows desktop stopped working.

That was it for me-I just wanted something where I could basically surf the internet, and do some Word Processing, and check e-mails. Using his Chromebook helped me decide that I just wanted something like that to use for getting around the internet. Smiley Happy

We're a "Mac" household.  iMac.  iPad.  iPhone.  We love Macs and their customer service and their tech support.

I'd recommend a Mac.  Go to the Apple website and see what they have to offer.  Or, if you live near an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Reseller, look there and get some advice.  You can find addresses of Apple Retail Stores and Apple Authorized Resellers on the Apple website.

I DO NOT recommend purchasing an Mac product from ANY TV Shopping Channel.  You will always pay a price for "bundled stuff" that you don't need and you're never sure that what you're buying is the latest model.

Finally, I recommend that you purchase Apple Care to extend your warranty and service support.  I wouldn't trust ANY "third-party warranty/service plan" with my Mac.

@qualitygal ...  We are also a "Mac"/"Apple" household.  And I must say that I agree with @Cats3000 100%.

My MacAir is the best techology I've ever had.  Since 1983.  I can say this without a doubt.

I was looking at an Asus 2-in-1 15.6"  computer model # Q503UA-BS15T17 for $799.99 (Best Buy) a couple of weeks ago. I asked on another thread if anyone had any opinions on Asus but I didn't get any responses. I saw on Best Buy an HP Envy 17.3 Laptop model # m7n109dx $999.99 that looked interesting. I have owned an HP computer and loved it until it died. I would definitely buy HP again.

Most new HOT, fast laptops today have a SSD (Solid State Drive). They also should have a long battery life. Here are top products included with the Envy, Apple, and Dell's XPS.

I recommend a Mac laptop. I recently switched back to Mac from a PC. My two year old Dell was getting slower and slower, and since I have an Apple iPhone, I went back to Mac. I love it. You can still do Word and Excel, but it is called Pages and Numbers on a Mac. Just takes a little time to get used to changes.

If you have a local Mac store, take a look at the different types of laptops. I bought a MacBook Pro retinal display, 13 inch, and the screen presence looks as if it is a 15 inch, but it is lighter and smaller.

I recommend Apple and I also recommend getting their AppleCare service plan.  It's awesome knowing someone will answer even the most mundane of questionss when you call.
