Yesterday, I got a letter from Xfinity that my password had been changed. I hadn't changed it.

This morning, I can't make or receive calls on my landline phone. I suspect it's related. I have changed my password, disconnected and reconnected my phone to the modem. Still not working. I went online and did a chat with Xfinity and they sent me to a tech support that I would have to pay. I'm not paying for their problem. Now what to do.

@occasionalrain @They were hacked. You probably should call the company from a different phone to work out the whole problem, which can affect multiple types o service from them, including internet, phone.

A router/modem can also just up and die on you.  Took a bit for this old gal to figure that one out.  They are sly.

I got an e-mail telling me of the breach and to change the password for my main account.  I have 3 Comcast e-mail accounts but, only one is considered the main account for not only e-mail but, all things concerning my account.

I was locked out of my account, so I changed my password.

How were you able to change your password if you were locked out?

@occasionalrain

Yesterday I disconnected our landline of 42 years. It was costing us $25 a month and we never use it. I've been wanting to disconnect it for years but my husband wouldn't let me on the outside chance that someone from our past that hasn't called us in decades, might call.  I didn't tell him I did it. He may never realize it. I've had the ringer off for a few years since the only calls that ever came to that number were spam calls.

It's always a good idea to unplug one's router about once a month or two to clear out congestion/ memory and refresh your connection.
