The best thing to do is contact Apple. An iPad 2 is a lot older than 1 year. Did you buy yours used? As will all devices, recharging batteries will eventually cause them to fail.

It was purchased Sept. 2012. It's not going down fast fast, just seems faster than usual, after this last charge. Also....something I thought I read here once but didn't know the final answer on....is it bad to keep it plugged into charger, once fully charged and use it that way? I've done that before, but don't do it much anymore, because I thought it might not be a good thing. The best thing to do is contact Apple. An iPad 2 is a lot older than 1 year. If so, delete them and see if it improves. Are you closing active apps in the task manager? Try rebooting the ipad (the simplest things work wonders some times) regardless, check your warranty info. If its been under a year call Apple for a replacement PRONTOThanks for all the suggestions...I don't have too many apps and only new one I had downloaded was AT&T while they were trouble-shooting my router before it died...I got the new router and then deleted the AT&T app. I did just close the open apps in the task manager, that might have added to it. Especially since the ABC app was one of them....I think when that's in the task mgr. it drains things. Though I still see it going down every few minutes as I type now....I just don't recall it doing that as fast before...more like every 15 min or so, I thought. It's beyond 1 yr. warranty...Sept. 2012-2013. I'll see how this goes. I recall at first this thing seemed to last about 8 hrs of use, not sure it would now.

I don't know how they characterize "average" battery life but I got one for Christmas in the 9.7 inch size. I've been using it to read, go on the web, play games, etc., just about all day long. Last night at 10 I had 39% battery life left when I put it on the charger. I had wi-fi on all day as well. My daughter says that leaving a device connected to wi-fi doesn't drain the battery, but it certainly does drain the battery on my Nook.
