Ipad Battery Life Questions?...

My Ipad ("2", I think...it's a little over a year old)...all of a sudden this last charge seems like it's draining practically each few minutes while I use it. It's going down quicker. It's been fine until now. I have it on same brightness I usually do. Is there anything else I should check? About how long before you have to replace batteries on Ipads, anyone have any experience with that? ******* Also, does it matter anymore if you don't wait to charge it until it's almost out? I usually don't charge it until it's down to about 20-16% chg, but last time I did it at 37%....like the old days, does this still effect battery life because you've not let it drain out completely? ********** Maybe it's my imagination , but it seems to be draining much faster now....if anyone can advise anything I'd appreciate it! Tku! ps. I'm going to close programs now too, but I don't imagine it's just that...

Re: Ipad Battery Life Questions?...

I hope I'm not talking out of school.....but it is my understanding that they do not change out the batteries on IPads. I have been told that when the battery is done...it's done and you trade your tablet in for a new one (of course, with some money also involved). I am interested to read everyone else's responses to see if what I understand is correct....wish I could be of more help. :-)

The best thing to do is contact Apple. An iPad 2 is a lot older than 1 year. Did you buy yours used? As will all devices, recharging batteries will eventually cause them to fail.

Englishrose is correct. If its still under warranty they will replace it. Now for causes: Did you recently download any new apps? If so, delete them and see if it improves. Are you closing active apps in the task manager? Try rebooting the ipad (the simplest things work wonders some times) regardless, check your warranty info. If its been under a year call Apple for a replacement PRONTO

No not used, but might be using wrong model number. It was the first generation of when they went to the retina display, and it was that model with the retina display. It was purchased Sept. 2012. It's not going down fast fast, just seems faster than usual, after this last charge. Also....something I thought I read here once but didn't know the final answer on....is it bad to keep it plugged into charger, once fully charged and use it that way? I've done that before, but don't do it much anymore, because I thought it might not be a good thing.

Thanks for all the suggestions...I don't have too many apps and only new one I had downloaded was AT&T while they were trouble-shooting my router before it died...I got the new router and then deleted the AT&T app. I did just close the open apps in the task manager, that might have added to it. Especially since the ABC app was one of them....I think when that's in the task mgr. it drains things. Though I still see it going down every few minutes as I type now....I just don't recall it doing that as fast before...more like every 15 min or so, I thought. It's beyond 1 yr. warranty...Sept. 2012-2013. I'll see how this goes. I recall at first this thing seemed to last about 8 hrs of use, not sure it would now.

Re: Ipad Battery Life Questions?...

I don't know how they characterize "average" battery life but I got one for Christmas in the 9.7 inch size. I've been using it to read, go on the web, play games, etc., just about all day long. Last night at 10 I had 39% battery life left when I put it on the charger. I had wi-fi on all day as well. My daughter says that leaving a device connected to wi-fi doesn't drain the battery, but it certainly does drain the battery on my Nook.

Re: Ipad Battery Life Questions?...

I only have 6 apps on this. FitPal, Weather, iGoogle, calculator, ABC and Solitaire. Anyone know that answer about not using it plugged into charger after fully charged? I don't do that anymore but used to.
