I did searches and couldn't find anything about a virus in the cloud that is infecting iPhones. Where did your granddaughter find this information?

When she downloads the cloud, the phone gets the virus and gets destroyed. I hope she didn't ruin too many of her friend's phones before she found this out. Unless she finds some way to delete this virus from her cloud, all of her files are gone. I guess she will have to set up a new cloud with another new phone . . . I don't know . . . I'll leave that to all of you experts, since she hasn't found anyone yet who knows how to fix this, including techs at the big tech stores.
HMM Iphone ... virus, apple products are not prone to viruses, hope this does not start a new trend

Hi, Usedtobeoxox! I believe this is likely an isolated incident. I've used Apple devices for years (as have most of my family, co-workers, and employees), and the problems described in this thread don't match up with my experience.
(Not to say I couldn't be wrong, though!
)
With all due respect to my friend, Ford, this sounds like a possible series of user errors instead of failure of the Apple hardware or software. She's self-admittedly unaccustomed to using Apple products, and some of the info also might have been lost in translation when she was advised of the events.

I doubt there was a virus infecting the cloud or we would be hearing a lot about it from everywhere. I would sure pop over to the Apple forum and check it out there and ask them. I posted a link at the very top of this thread. Or she should go to the Apple store and ask them.

You could be right on target dooBdoo, as I am getting this information from my daughter who is getting it from her daughter.
I'll stop writing about Apple/Mac products since I don't know a thing about them. Sometimes one thinks he/she is helping when he/she is not!!

I will ask though . . . is "the cloud" an Apple/Mac product? I thought that could be used by any user, PC, MAC, tablets, phones, etc. She said the virus is in the cloud, not the iPhone.

There are various clouds, Apple owns iCloud but there are others.
