Hi y'all: Need help and not tech smart. I have the 6 Generation IPad purchased new. The WiFi constantly drops like every 5 minutes. DH computer and all equipment- cable, WiFi and whatever you called everything needed is in the back of the house. I use my iPad in the den - three rooms up front. We purchased the cable company WiFi extender- EERO. Just last week - cable tech came out to check everything. I called Apple and was on the phone over 3O minutes and of course the WiFi never dropped but happened when I got off the phone. Apple support found no problems and indicated all my settings etc were good. DH has no issues with his computer. My iPad serial number: GG7WG3GVJFM8 and model : MR7J2LL/A. This happens whenever I do anything on the IPad: research, reading and posting emails, shopping, using various forums or blogs. We don't have Apple store but an Apple certified service center and they can't find any problems with my IPad. Should I purchase another WiFi extender and any suggestions for it and this issue. Thanks in advance.

I never put much confidence in WiFi extenders. Is it possible to move your WiFi modem to another location?

It sounds like the experts have thoroughly analyzed your iPad.  We have a poster who is very expert in problems with Apple devices but she has been ill and not participating here.  I don't know that anyone else has the level of expertise that would be needed to diagnose your problem.

I agree with @Etoile308  about the extender.  All I hear about them is that they're ineffective.

I hope you find someone who can help.

@SouthernBee

Our Frontier internet connection dropped numerous times thru the day, due to an old switch in the box.  Every complaint I made to Frontier, their employee could see there was an issue with my connection.  The only fix was for Frontier to upgrade their equipment, which wasn't going to happen.  That switch connection is 3 miles from my house by car, and barely a warm up flight for a bird, but Frontier claimed I was too far away from the switch for a reliable connection.

I finally said goodbye to Frontier and went with AT&T wireless internet.  Problem free now.

Do you have wireless internet?

@Kachina624 : Back in March  @dooBdoo gave me a few suggestions but no help. This is very frustrating and makes me feel like I am in the twilight zone. DH can be watching football on my IPad and gets irritated when the WiFi drops.

Re: IPad and WiFi problems

[ Edited ]

@RedTop : We have WOW cable and internet service and we have the WiFi router. DH is sleeping but will ask him later. When the cable and internet tech came out- they found in the outside box a cable wire that was very tangled. They replaced that and another cable in the house thinking that was the problem. But this cable company is superior to the only other option in town because we tried them first.

@SouthernBee  First question is do you have any other devices and do they drop off or is it strickly your IPad only?   I would want to narrow down if it's just your device or if it is in fact the wifi. If it is only your IPad then you need to google why does my IPad 6 constantly disconnect from my wifi.  They have several solutions to try.  Not sure what the help desks walked you through, but I have found google usually has better solutions than help desks sometimes.  "Checking" the settings is not what you need.  There are several things to reset but it would be easier for you to google the solutions than for me to try to walk you through.  There are videos.  It does NOT sound like the wifi.  It sounds like you need to do some of the steps they recommend. If no other devices have this issue then it's something that needs to be reset on the IPad.  Some of the solutions are easy to try.   Again there are videos that walk you through.  Good luck!

In addition to what @eadu4 asked about the iPad being the only device that has this problem, I would ask have you tried using your iPad in the room with all your WiFi equipment?  I would think if it works okay in that room close to the WiFi, then it might be a case of being too far away.  If it doesn't work correctly close to the equipment, I would assume distance from the WiFi is not the problem.

Also, has this been a continuous problem or did it happen after an Apple update?  I know that sometimes people complain about certain updates affecting their WiFi connection.

Other than that, I'd put out a call to @gardenman.  He knows a lot about this stuff and explains it all very well.

@eadu4 : Googled info and completed several steps. Currently in the network settings under general but scared to do reset. What if I do something wrong ? I don't drive and DH had shoulder surgery 3 weeks ago.

I had the same problem with my wifi.  It indeed was fixed when I got the extender.  Could you do a hard reset on your ipad and see if that helps?
