I have a few questions about the Jitterbug Flip phone 2? Easy or Difficult to use?

I have read on various sites the reviews, questions and answers about this phone and still undecided. My DH has the original Jitterbug flip and loves it and easy to use. His sister is bugging him to purchase a phone to send her text messages. My DH has health and memory issues. He doesn't want an expensive smart phone. He needs something very easy. If this is not the best product can you please recommend something else. He rarely uses his phone and the current service plan is like $25 per month for 200 minutes. Your help and suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank you.

@SouthernBee

I only use my cell for calls. Probably been a couple months since I have used it. I paid $59.99 for this Tracfone from HSN. That per month comes out to $5 per month.

It comes with 12 months of service/1500 texts/1500 talk minutes/1500mb Data.  Yes it's a later model smart phone, but it still works just like any cell phone. You punch the phone number to talk, that's it. Much cheaper than $25 a month for someone that rarely uses it. That is why I bought it.

@hckynutjohn : Thank you for your reply. I purchased my Tracfone from HSN because I read any cell phone info from you and @gardenman . DH prefers a flip style phone with better text messaging. I was just on HSN looking at the Tracfones because they have free shipping today and trying to find something easy and simple for DH. Thanks again.

@SouthernBee, the Jitterbug Flip 3 can send and receive texts. You can see more at a Best Buy store or go online to their website and you can see reviews, questions, and specs. That might help you make a decision. It appears that you can speak your requests on the phone. Hooe that helps.

@Toot1920 : Thank you for taking time to respond.  I had the first generation of this phone and it was very difficult for me to use . I found something easy and less expensive with Tracphone.  Because of my previous experience was afraid of this option but will go back and research it.

Tracfone is the best value and I will be a customer until that changes

Re: I have a few questions about the Jitterbug Flip phone 2? Easy or Difficult to use?

I go back to the 90's when my daughter wanted a phone while in HS got her the  TracFone. Then when she wanted something more modern in college with all the new things , I adopted her phone ,we have upgraded the model over the years ,when  HSN or even one time Shop HQ was selling a good deal, with a TracFone.and have  never regretted  any TracFone we got..Sometimes heard people just brought another TracFone because of the great deal that was given with minutes, text data and just had their number transfer.

Husband and I only use it for traveling or power outages as we still have a land line phone,or used when I was hospitalized.

With TracFone you can go onto their website or can buy a card in stores to add minutes most important you have to add the minutes before the ending date otherwise you loose the minutes.

What I have been doing  lately when I  don 't need a lot of minutes but have to add some , I buy a small amount of minutes online , and now they have an add on purchase for $49.00 that covers 365 days, also you  can buy extra text or data too,.so that really is a great deal,as I don't  have to worry about adding any minutes for a full year.

They also offer an auto delivery program if interested.

I never have had any trouble communicating with their customer service if needed, like transferring number  and minutes from one phone to the new phone .

I know some people would differ with me,but have been a satisfied customer, since the 90's

[ Edited ]

I own a flip phone (Alcatel 'MyFlip') and it uses the Tracfone carrier. The phone itself costs $20. I buy one year of Tracfone service plus some minutes (minimal b/c I never use the phone except for emergencies). Total for one year of service cost me less than $70.

This is the phone I have, Alcatel MyFlip:
