How to remove an unwanted toolbar

Recently we were discussing rebate (shopping) sites. Someone mention Shop At Home. Well I visited it and the next thing I knew, I had their toolbar. I do not want it and when I google how to remove it, I see all these downloads. Are they safe? Is this the only way to remove an unwanted toolbar? It is a Dell desktop using Mozilla.
