I have decided to try Mint Mobile, I'm moving on from Tracfone ( I got my cellphone unlocked). I went for the plan that gives you 4GB a month, next step up is 10GB. Is 4GB enough, I don't use my phone all that much? I'm getting the promo deal, buy three months, get three months free. I guess when the six months are up I can switch to another plan but I hope I can get by with the 4GB plan.

I switched from Verizon to Mint about 6 months ago; the only difference is the cost - I'm saving a ton since switching. With that said, I'm on the 4 GB plan and rarely use more than a gig or two. I think with Verizon, I NEVER exceeded 4 GB. Throughout the day I do use my phone for a lot of texting, checking email and some online stuff.

My husband and I share 5 and we never get close to 5.  We use our data on our phone frequently thru the day.  You should be fine.  You don't use your data at home if you have wifi or somewhere you can guest into their internet. If you don't have wifi at home then you will use more data.

Thank you for bringing up Mint mobile, didn't really know much about them.  I just checked 2 lines with unlimited data, 6 months for $180!  That is amazingly reasonable and much less than our current Verizon.

As long as you aren't planning on loading a lot of apps on it, 4g should be fine.

Unless you have little access to WiFi? My wife has 2gb of data with her plan, and she has never gotten even close to 1gb. In fact, hers runs usually about 4-500mb per month.

Most businesses and other facilities have free access to their WiFi. You use WiFi? You do not use data, unless this Mint Mobile for some reason, prevents you from using WiFi.

How? I haven't a clue. Data is overrated for the average user. Just wasting a few more $$ in my view. Same thing I explained to my wife when her plan told her she should buy more GB of data.

I've also been trying to figure out how much data I would use in a month. Still on tracfone but thinking about switching.......not sure where.

You didn't say how much longer you will use TracFone, but! If you have a few months left, you can use your TracFone Ap and see exactly how much Data/Text/Minutes you have used. Pick a day of the month, read your Data Used. Go back 1 month later and the Ap will tell you.

My TracFone expires next month and I just ordered a new Samsung phone last night. It was $59.95 delivered, or $4.99 per month. How much data have I used on my old TracFone? That would be Zero, and the same number of Texts. Minutes? Guessing around 15-20.
