I am not very tech savy and I have an old Android phone. I need to get the Wal-Mart app downloaded to my phone so that I can order online with them. I found several Wal-Mart apps, but, they are not compatible with my phone. So, I finally found one, but they are asking for a credit card. Is that normal?
Not to be confused with the account I set up with Wal-Mart to pay for items I purchase.
Shouldn't there be some free app on Google Play for Android phones?

@Sapphiregal, I have the Walmart app on my android phone and it was free. I would be suspicious of a Walmart app with a fee. It is likely third party.
How old is your phone?

What's the brand & model of your phone?
You can go to the Google Play Store to download the App free. Just search Wal-Mart grocery App.

@Sapphiregal There is no Walmart app with a fee. They want a credit card # because they figure you'll be buying something and you'll be all set with a cc on file just as you may have with QVC.
It may be time for a new phone.

When I ordered some things from Walmart, I set up my account with them and gave them credit card info for paying.
After placing the order, I was told I would need to get the app in order to receive info on where to park when picking up the order.
I have never shopped with Wal-Mart this way before. Always just gone in and gotten what I need myself. However, being as I will soon be having knee replacement surgery, I wanted to check this out to see if I like it. I know every time I am in Walmart, half of their employees are doing the shopping for customers.
And, yes, Kachina614, you are probably right that I should get a new phone!!😅😅😅😅

The name of the app for Android is Walmart: Shopping & Savings. It requires Android 8.0 and up.

I was ordering online with Wal-Mart before they started the grocery app so they had my CC info.
I don't use my phone to order groceries. I still order them online. Have not ordered groceries for pick up in a while.
They want you to set up App on your phone so after your order is ready you can check in with them to let them know your order is ready for pick up. When you leave your house they can see where you are on the App. They know when you arrive to pick up your groceries. You check in once you park to tell them which space you parked in plus color of your vehicle. They will bring your groceries out to put in your vehicle.
First time I used the App to order groceries I checked in on the computer at home. I left my phone at home so I could not check in when I got there? I didn't know I needed my phone or that they could see where I was on their APP? LOL!!!

@Sapphiregal, since you will be recovering from knee replacement surgery soon it might benefit you to look into Walmart plus. It is $98 a year but as a plus member delivery to your home is free for purchases of $35 or more. This includes groceries and anything else they sell. If something is shipped there is no minimum or shipping fee.
There are other benefits with plus membership including a free subscription to Paramount+ streaming.

@Marp I have the Walmart Plus $98 subscription. How do I use that to get the Paramount+ at no additional cost?
THANKS!
