Just backup your current phone to your  Gmail account. Make sure your files are there.

 

You then open your new phone and follow directions. Android will help your step by step getting a new device running. You may want to look for a YouTube video for help. 

I had the same problem recently and this is what I did too. All pics went on an SD card and then downloaded contacts via Gmail account.
