Help Please - Transfer Wizard Question

I put it off as long as I could, but I had to buy a new Tracfone.  I called Tracfone and they transferred my phone number and minutes.   I also want to transfer my contacts and photos.

Is it correct, that my next step is to use a transfer wizard?

When I tried to download the app into my old phone, I got a message stating "your device isn't compatible with this version".  So what do I do next?   Is there an app that is compatiable for my older android tracphone - it's about 4 years old?  Or, do you have any other suggestions.  I'm lost (and crying as I type this).

I'm sorry, but I have no tech knowledge what so ever, so your help is appreicated.

Re: Help Please - Transfer Wizard Question

@BunSnoop - Deep breath!

I don't know what your old phone is, but I just used Transfer Wizard yesterday to move everything from my 2-year-old LG Fiesta to my new LG Premier Pro Plus.

I also used it two years ago when I upgraded my phone.  What phone are you trying to load the app on?  And did you go into Play Store and find the Tracfone wizard?  I think there are other versions out there.

Re: Help Please - Transfer Wizard Question

I've used Transfer Wizard numerous times to transfer apps and data but it has never transferred photos.  Sorry, can't help with your dilemma.

Re: Help Please - Transfer Wizard Question

@Venezia , my old phone is a Samsung Galaxy A10e and my new phone is  a Motorola motog7 optimo maxx.  I tried a search on Google as to what to do when you get a message that your phone is not compatable when trying to add an app and it said to try clearing the Google play cache.  I did that, and I still get the message that my phone is not compatable?  I took a deep breath too!  :-)

Re: Help Please - Transfer Wizard Question

@BunSnoop - Your Galaxy A10e is still being sold, so it can't be considered an old phone.  And I assume it's a Tracfone?  Not that that should matter.

You're sure you have enough space on your old phone to download the app?  I had a look at mine and it's the Transfer Wizard with an icon that shows two phones.  All I put in the search bar for it were those two words.

If you're sure you have enough space, you can always try the old trick of switching your phone off and back on, to see if that makes a difference.

Re: Help Please - Transfer Wizard Question

@Kachina624 - It's always transferred all my photos.  Yesterday it transferred over 6100 photos and videos, along with all my other phone content (contacts, voicemail, etc.)  I've never had a problem with it.

Re: Help Please - Transfer Wizard Question

@BunSnoop - I've just been looking online.  If both phones are Tracfones, you should be able to use their wizard.

However, Samsung also has one called "Smart Switch".  And Verizon has its own called "Transfer Content".

These all work the same way - both phones must be connected to the same wifi signal and switched on.

You may have to try a different transfer app.

Re: Help Please - Transfer Wizard Question

@Venezia, Thank you so much for all of your help.  I called Tracfone, and they also said I should try some other transfer apps; otherwise, they told me to transfer everything manually.   I'm going to try some other apps tomorrow - I'll try the one's you mentioned and if they don't work, I'll try a few more, and if that does not work, just manually move a few items and that'll be it for me.   I appreciate so much the time you spent to help me....THANK YOU!!

Re: Help Please - Transfer Wizard Question

@BunSnoop

You can use a Micro SD card.

I used Google backup included with my Gmail account to transfer data to my last tablet.

Just backup your current phone to your  Gmail account. Make sure your files are there.

You then open your new phone and follow directions. Android will help your step by step getting a new device running. You may want to look for a YouTube video for help.
