To electronic gadgets. Have been home a lot due to plantar fasciitis and got hooked on checking out all kinds of stuff on Amazon. So far I have purchased:
1) blue ray player for my living room TV and got connected to Netflix
2) ordered a modem/router (have paid Comcast $1,920 to rent one)
3) ordered a Roku thing to use with my TV in the bedroom
I think there was something else, just can't remember. I have been sitting here for weeks reading about these things (reviews, questions and answers. I am totally ignorant about anything electronics to the point that I thought router was just a different name for modem I have been properly educated about this though).
Now I have to start enjoying these things instead to getting ideas to buy even more stuff. It's amazing how addictive it is to just "look into" these things and then decide that you really NEED everything you find. Has anybody else gone through an experience like this?

@CLEM, enjoy your new gadgets. They all sound like reasonable and useful purchases to me. I especially enjoy Apple TV in winter when I am not as active outside. LM

Glad you are having fun! Good luck with your recovery.
My Mom has always given me books to read after she has finished with them. I noticed she hasn't been doing that as often lately. Turns out, she hasn't been doing as much reading because she's been enjoying playing all the games on her new phone !!!

Well, at least they're useful.
Like somebody else said, there are definitely a lot of worse things to be addicted to.
I also enjoy my electronics. Oddly, however, I don't have a smartphone. I've had a cell phone for over 22 years and really have no need for a smartphone. I just use it for a phone (gasp) and have no use for being online with a tiny screen and no keyboard. Sometimes I will check my email on my iPod Touch but rarely do I use it to reply. That kind of plinky typing is frustrating for me.
But I have my computers, TVs, Tivos, and I have three Roku3 units. That last one is probably the only thing I've over-purchased on, as the Tivos also stream. But it's ok. I got good deals. ![]()

I had to buy a new router and found a very good one at Staples for $100 (which I thought was high).
Someone set up my wireless PC system and I'm not sure what a router or modem does. I only know I need them. lol
