Has anyone fixed the video autoplay?

I upgraded my iPad and now Q videos play automatically.

My android computer has a box that I made sure is still checked to prevent this, but there is no box to check in the iPad version.

I'm not using the Q app.

Last night I clicked on a product and there wasn't even a way to stop the video, i.e., no bar at the bottom with play arrow and pause/stop double bars. That was new and frustrating.

@GingerPeach  Switch browsers.  Can you see the button now?  If so, then the "issue" is w/your browser.  You may have to either restart it, restart your iPad and/or update if you are not using Safari.

Re: Has anyone fixed the video autoplay?

@GingerPeach  I would go to Apple's website to determine if the latest iPad update has any issues w/Safari.

OXdaily DOT com is another good place to start.

Check other websites using videos to determine if you are having the same issue.

OR

You can install Firefox on your iPad through Apple's App Store.  If you have no issues w/Firefox, then it's Safari that is the problem.

Hi, @GingerPeach!

I tried going to several different Q items with the Safari browser

and then the Brave browser on my iPad 6 (iPadOS 15.4).

None of the videos autoplay

and all of them do display the full controls at the bottom and top for the videos,

so I can't duplicate the problem.

Just thinking quickly, did you make sure

under Accessibility,

in the Motion options,

Auto-Play Video Previews is toggled off?

Also, I usually try the Reset Network Settings feature when any

website weirdness crops up, as an early troubleshooting tool,

so you might try that.

If none of this helps, let us know and maybe one of us can think of other possible solutions.

Hope everyone is doing well this evening!😊

Re: Has anyone fixed the video autoplay?

Thank you, @dooBdoo It's as if you are our anaytic angel hovering nearby and alighting on our shoulders when we have these issues.

Mine is the iPad mini 5, with 15.3.1. How do you like 15.4?

The autoplay is still off (under Accessibility).

I've also had the iPad completely turned off several times since the update, not just closed/asleep.

Since my checking Q offerings via online videos has become more rare in recent times, I'll have to weigh how much effort this will be worth. Especially if only the Q site is affected, as so far seems to be the case.
I'm not afraid to reset stuff (after all, I set up my own wifi), but sigh, sometimes resetting is, while not difficult, just one more annoyance.
I'm feeling lazy!

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and workarounds. I hope they'll be useful to others, too.

You're welcome, and thank you,  @GingerPeach 😊 You're always so kind.

I like 15.4 -- it's running smoothly so far with no problems.
The "Reset Network Settings" feature,

by the way, is quick and easy, takes only a minute or two -- I do it often, and it's easy housekeeping that can clear up all sorts of internet-related issues.
It's in the iPad Settings, under General.

A note about turning off the device after installing an update... you might already know but I thought it would be good to mention for those who might not...

the device has to complete the installation in the background, doing things like indexing, a process that takes anywhere from a few hours to a day or so...

and it can't do that if the device is completely powered off.
So, be sure you leave the device on for a while -- I'd say a day or so -- to allow the update to complete.
Have a great evening!😊

Re: Has anyone fixed the video autoplay?

No worries, @dooBdoo

I didn't turn it off until the update was complete. Probably not even for days  and days afterward afterward.

I rarely look at Q videos anymore which is why I didn't even notice this glitch for a long time.

Take care, and Happy 💚☘️ Day!

Re: Has anyone fixed the video autoplay?

This has been driving me crazy also ! I have an iPad Pro 2021 and use safari.  If I click on an item - say a lug bag, the page loads.   Everything looks normal.   When I click on one of the photos of the item to look at the features or other angles of the item,  the video will start playing.

Makes me crazy !😀. Only way I have found to stop it is to just quickly click on another picture.

When I use the QVC app this doesn't happen.
