Mine had 8.1 and there was information on the Microsoft Website that said you can use older versions of Office with 8.1. Maybe you want to switch over to it, but check at Microsoft for all the older software it will support. I went to Amazon and there were similar computers. BTW, Most Walmart raters are praising your model, but there are a few with out of box defectives, too. I hate worrying if mine will be a lemon or not.
I didn't buy in the store. I bought mine on the website using site-to-store, and picked it up. If it's not in stock at the store you can still order if it shows site-to-store is available. Even if you order on the website, if you need to return it you can take it back to the store.
I'd rather stick with Open Office since it's free.

I have completely set it up to suit my taste. If you're interested in the specs, I will post them. Otherwise, I can only say that I compared the package deal the Q offered against what I could purchase from Dell directly (where I have always purchased them before) and found I was saving a lot of money on the Dell bundle. The only additional program I had to buy was MS Outlook, which I can't live without. I bought that directly from Microsoft.
My last Dell lasted seven years. I bought that directly from Dell.
If I could have afforded it, I would have bought the Lenovo.
Hi was that the Dell TSV that was on March 16 ? it sold out my husband said that was a very good deal from QVC for the specs and what you were getting. He checked the stores in our area and Dell's website and QVC still had a better deal.
Yes, that was it. Even the Dell salesman told me they could never match that. The closest we could come when adding on the MS Office elements and the four-year tech help (which Dell can't even offer) and the Trend Micro for four years (another separate purchase) was $400. I did have to go to Microsoft to buy MS Outlook which was $109, but I can't imagine using any other product for my email. I used it at work for almost 15 years.
So far so good, no problems at all. Very fast (8 mgs ram) the i7 processor, 1 tb hard drive. It does have Windows 8, but I understand 9 is coming out near the end of the year. I feel I made a wise purchase. Tell your husband I agree wholeheartedly. Did he buy it?

Just purchased a new All In One Toshiba. A very sturdy good computer, anything but flimpsy like some I have seen. Bought it from their web site with a 3 year in home warranty. Called and they guided me through the set up. Yes, they spoke very good english which was a plus. Went from Windows XP to 8. Was advised not to to upgrade to Windows 8.1. What can I say except I love it!![]()

I have always used Dells in my personal life (except the first computer I bought in the late eighties which was a Compaq, the best at the time). At work we had Toshiba laptops which were always breaking down, a big problem for me since I managed the computer department and it was my job to either fix them or get them fixed, and that was often.
I hope you like your new Dell. Don't hesitate to change the defaults and formats to suit your taste. I spent two days doing that and I am very comfortable with this laptop now. The tech service is two-part. The first part is an American who will listen to your questions and then direct you to another number for assistance. This number might be attached to a foreign country, but the whole process is done via screen chat and the tech accessing your computer. These folks spent hours and hours on the phone with me and they were extremely knowledgeable and patient the whole time.
Once you have received and worked with it, let me know how you like it, OK?

Hi, I'm the OP. The manufacturer had someone call me yesterday and I am very pleased with the company's tech customer service. I did not ask for this call as I had already spoken with them. For Caffeina, I found out that the company did indeed change their screens. The person said it was because customers wanted more battery life and the new type of screens accommodate that need. The glare comes from the new screen and the brightview they use. I spent awhile watching YouTube people repair a no display issue and I learned alot. Especially watching them take the computers apart. I did find a way to get more of your model, but I am going to keep looking.

I recently bought a new laptop that runs on windows 7 (on purpose). I need to connect through Citrix for work and Windows 8 was not working well enough for me on that application and printing through Citrix. I love my new laptop with Windows 7. It is Acer, Aspire E1-531-2686. You can buy online at Amazon or Walmart, but I bought mine from a local computer store so he could put Microsoft office on it for me. Great laptop and very pleased. I bought my husband one too and he loves his as well. I also bought for traveling, a Microsoft surface tablet/laptop, which runs on Windows 8 and is so lightweight for traveling.

You can get some PCs for really low prices. There are no super-cheap Macs. But if you put together comparable computers, Macs will actually come out to be the same or less Cost than PCs.
I've used a lot of good Macs and PCs, but for my money, if the criterion is that I have to LOVE the computer, it's always a Mac. Does everything, less hassle, more fun, less in the way between me and what I want to do.
That's just my take for what it's worth. But there's gotta be a reason people line up out the door of the Apple Stores.
