HP Computer Very Slow No Support

[ Edited ]

I am baffled by what the term LifeTime Support mens when hp is being sold.  I purchased a HP Computer from QVC and durng the presentation Life Time Support  was mentioned over and over.  This HP Pavillion is the worst computer I have ever owned.  It is slow and constantly freezing up.  I called HP and they refuse to talk to me.  When I first got the computher HP's tech support person gave me incorrect info on how to set up the wireless internet connection.  After two hours of struggling I called my service provider Verizon and they gave me the correctt instruction.  I am sorry I made this purchase and will most likely go back to Dell.  Never again HP!

@VaLady92 Lifetime Support is from a separate company that handles that, not HP.  HP will not be able to help with a computer you purchased from QVC.  Did you purchase the recent TSV with AMD12?  That's not an HP Pavilion, so I'm curious which computer it was since QVC sells many different versions.  For Lifetime Support, you must contact the Lifetime Support company via the number given to you in your package.  They also list what issues they do not cover, and wireless connections is one of those issues (yes, wireless must be addressed with your service provider, like Verizon).  It's all in the information you get with your purchase.

I had an issue with my recent HP TSV purchase, called Lifetime Support, and they were great, problem solved.

I hope you find a resolution to your problem.

Re: HP Computer Very Slow No Support

I received my 17" HP TSV AMD-A12 in red and decided to send it back due to all the bad reveiws. I was going to set it up and decided I would not have faith in it as I did in HP before. I will buy one locally so I can try it out in the store. The extra software is not needed and I wouldn't use for me for the extra price. Sorry to say I returned it but the 17" was a little big for me anyways. I hope some get a good computer and love it. Just not happy with the reviews-too many negatives.

I am skeptical of negative reviews, but I am also skeptical of the AMD processor.   I would prefer the Intel if I were buying.

@MKR14 Perhaps I am one of the lucky ones, or perhaps I am the majority who received a fantastic HP laptop during the TSV (and the happy customers have not posted a review).  Mine is wonderful!

I downloaded File Transfer, McAfee Protection, and Corel Paintbrush sottware, as well as the full one year MS Office 356.  Everything went perfectly.  I only had to call Lifetime Support once, because I wasn't familiar with Windows 10 and couldn't find one of the tile icons that I needed for a download, and they pointed it out for me.  I've had my new laptop for nearly 10 days, and have used it everyday since. I am so glad they did not pre-load the laptop with all the included software like they used to do, I never need all they usually include.  I have no need for those games so I'm not downloaded those.

Comparison shop for the exact same specifications.  I did, and this latop is a great deal.

Also, you have to look at the specific processor of AMD vs. Intel.  It's nearly impossible to say one is better than the other without direct specific comparisons and how the PC is being used.  Hard core gaming is vastly different from general Internet searches and the occasional spreadsheet.  The AMD12 quad core processor is excellent.  I love my laptop.

Re: HP Computer Very Slow No Support

@VaLady92

Sorry, but this is one of the many reasons I have said many times on this forum. Once you add a 3rd party, in this case, qvc, you are likely to run into the GREAT runaround, known as (The Catch 22).

If you had bought directly from HP? There would a direct buyer(you), manufacturer communication. With a 3rd party you get the, call qvc from hp, and call hp from qvc. Round and round you go.

I don't care if you buy dell/hp/lenovo, add a 3rd party? It is 1 more "potential" problem when it comes to accessing help from the tech departments. I have always bought direct for that reason, and MAINLY because I can have a computer built with exactly the hardware components I want for my use. My purchases have always been cheaper than from any cable or online retailer.

Don't blame this all on hp, as you chose to add a 3rd party, which can be a problem with any computer manufactured. I hope you find the help, but you also might use google to see if you can learn more about your specific problem. There is nobody that cannot learn more about computers, including myself.

@hckynut - Actually, no, in this case, this is what you get when you don't understand what you've bought.  The lifetime support is not through HP or QVC but through Premiere PC Support.  A computer manufacturer will offer 1 year up to 3 years of support, but lifetime support?  Nope.

I think we might be saying pretty the same thing, in around about way. Buy direct from the manufacturer and they will give you the facts when it comes to their support options, no?
