Gmail Account Question

Hi,

In a gmail account, is there a way that the sender can tell if you have just deleted an email from them without having read it? Can they tell that you have actually read it?

And the reverse: Is there a way that I can tell if the recipient of my email has read my email or just deleted it without reading it?
