Yes, there should, @NYwoman .  I'm glad to see you are out the other end of your update.  Enjoy Windows 10!Woman Happy

Re: Free Upgrade from Windows 8 to 10?

My GF called me the other day....her computer was weird, totally different from what she was used to and she was beside herself. She is not computer-literate and she had no idea what happened.

I had an idea and I was right. I went to her house tonight and her computer had upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1. Evidently Microsoft just went ahead and upgraded. It took a while to get things re-organized for her the way she likes things on her computer, but we got it done.

So while I was there, I showed her all about Win 10, little tips and tricks that I knew. I think she'll be OK....she just needs to sit down and play for a while. I told her to call me if she needed help and she will if she needs me.

But people really need to beware. She didn't even know she had Win 10 in her system. She just turned her computer on the other day and things were different. It must have upgraded the last time she was on her computer and she didn't notice it.

I had to call her ISP to get some help with setting up her email. The tech said that a couple people are suing Microsoft for their aggressiveness with 10. And there's talk of a class-action suit. People are really angry.

Re: Free Upgrade from Windows 8 to 10?

It's good that your friend had someone to turn to, @PamelaSue72 .  Others haven't been so lucky and have experienced very expensive and frustrating "adventures" to get Windows 10 to work for them.  MS could care less that many in-place configurations are not compatible with their new OS for whatever reason.

There have been many threads here and all over the net about the MS "surprise" updates without user permission and the pending lawsuits.  July 29th...today...was to have been the last day for the free upgrade. Looks like your friend was part of an all-out push by MS to reach their 1 Billion goal.

I'm glad you were able to smooth out the process for her, and I hope her foray into Windows 10  continues to go well.Woman Happy

Re: Free Upgrade from Windows 8 to 10?

I installed 10 (from 7) and absolutely hated it.  Gave myself plenty of time to "adjust" but absolutely hated it.  My son (Network Engineer) installed and uninstalled his twice before he uninstalled it permanently and he's an "up to date electronics guy" loves the latest....) and really didn't think much of the "improvements".  He came over and uninstalled 10 from my dinosaur.... I'm keeping 7 until it rots.... Woman Frustrated
