I recently set up my Amazon Firestick 4K.  I've been watching The Morning Show on Apple TV and love it.  When I pause it to do something, sometimes it takes me a while to get back to the show.  By that time, the screen is black and I have to start all over at Home to get back into Apple TV.  When I start the show, it starts at the very beginning, and I have to fast forward to where I was.

Surely it's not supposed to do that.  When I watch Amazon Prime or Netflix through cable it starts back exactly where I was.  I tried searching on Amazon Firestick 4k's boards and posed the question earlier.  So far I haven't received an answer, but it hasn't been that long.

I was hoping someone here had a Firestick 4K and could help me.  I tried to go into settings and see if I could set the screensaver for an hour so that it wouldn't go off.  I couldn't find a way to do that. I don't know what else to do.

If your other apps are working fine, it appears the issue is w/the Apple TV app.  Select the app>option button - check to see if the Apple TV app has settings.

I have a Fire TV 2nd gen.

@Mz iMac   I haven't used any of the other apps.  I have cable and bought the Firestick for Apple TV and Disney+.  The only one I've used is Apple TV.  I will try what you said though.

@Mz iMac   I have Googled and can't find the answer to another question.  If I want to quit watching a movie and come back to it the next day, what buttons do I press.  I have been pressing the Home button to completely quit, but it doesn't restart where I left off.  Thank you.

I did find a more comprehensive guide to the Firestick Remote online and Bookmarked it, but it doesn't have an answer to these two questions that I have.

@NickNack God knows I am not a techie! I usually put shows I want to watch on my list. Then if I go back to a show the next day, I click on my list, click on the show, and just resume the show.

@Jordan2   That's what I do, too, with Netflix and Prime, but there isn't a list with the Firestick.  I go back to the show and click the pause button and it starts back at the beginning.  I've been writing down the minutes where I left off and fast forwarding.  I know that's not the way it should be.  I have Googled and Googled and Googled.  I've also asked on the Amazon Firestick 4K message board.

@NickNack

"I have been pressing the Home button to completely quit, but it doesn't restart where I left off."

Try the following:

Click on the PAUSE button of your remote

Next click on the GO BACK  button

until you get to your "Home" page.

When you want to go back to the movie you were previously watching, you should now see the "Resume" & "Play from beginning" options.

Thank you so much @Mz iMac !  The last picture showing what the screen looks like when you press the "back" button is particularly helpful.
