Fire TV/TCL Roku TV

[ Edited ]

Does anyone have a Fire TV or TCL Roku TV? I have all google devices so am not invested in the Amazon system other than a Ring doorbell. Opinions?

We have cable and fire tv.  My husband put fire tv in our spare rooms. We have a large house. He was tired a paying a few bucks a month. My sewing room had it. It takes a bit of learning to use. I'm happy I have regular cable  for watching. With fire tv you still have to pay for Netflix, Amazon and what ever else you pay

It's mostly about streaming. I do get live qvc. Since I don't watch much in that room. I don't really care

I have two TCL Roku Tvs. Easy to set up. Inexpensive and have great picture quality. I've never used the Roku on them, just my DirecTV is set up on them.

Almost all streaming devices work the same.  You need a decent Internet speed for streaming and a good router to reach all the rooms.  The difference between them is the price and the stations/apps you can choose from.  I have Apple TV, since I'm an Apple household, and pay for the services I want.  All of my TVs are able to connect to the Internet so, I can also stream without using the Apple TV.

Check which apps are available with the different streaming devices and/or services and pick the one which works best for you.  Update your Internet service or router if needed to prevent buffering or service interruptions.

I have a 2017, 55" Element Fire TV that's great. An amazing picture and easy to use. It does occasionally (maybe once every two months) get frozen and needs to be unplugged for a few seconds then plugged back in. That's not an uncommon issue with modern electronics and is an easy fix. Element's not a "top name" in electronics, but it's been great for me. I paid $399 for it on Prime Day back in 2017 and have never regretted it.

I have a TCL Series 6 & the picture & sound quality is excellent. Roku is very easy to navigate.I like it so much I bought smaller Series 4 for the garage where my exercise equipment is. That one was $219. at Walmart & I didn't have to learn another remote!
