I changed everything over to Chrome. My usual way of doing things is to put my favorite places on the desktop in form of an icon. (I drag the address to the desktop)
With IE I get icons that are specific to the site. They are usually individual and are the trademark logo. When I drag a site from Chrome I GET BLUE GLOBES and they all look alike.
Does anyone know how I can get the logo on the desktop using Chrome. What am I missing. Example... Ebay comes up as a little package, QVC comes up with the gold and white Q. But using Chrome I am looking at blue earth like globes.

I know how to send a shortcut to the desktop in the File Menu on The Explorer tool bar, but where can I find the ability to send a short cut in Chrome? I just started using it yesterday.

I started using Chrome a few days ago myself. I have found Google searches to be very helpful in making this change. I was able to find a great extension called Ad Block. Someone mentioned it in a thread here.

I have a chromebook - some of the sites have a icon that is specific to the sites and some do not. It was the same on my Asus tablet when I had it. However, ALL sites do have written on the icon that is there what they are.

I have them both and I get the same thing. I also use shortcuts on the desktop the way you do. If I figure out how to do this I will let you know.

I figured it out. I just pressed on the globe and a place for naming the globe showed up underneath it. Some had a name. Either way I just typed in the name I wanted for the site.

Hi! You can probably add an extension to chrome that you can save your specific links on easily. Go to Settings --> Extensions (on your left hand side of the screen) ---> Get (more) extensions (bottom of the screen).
I have a lot of great extensions, including "Incredible Startpage (productive startpage)" When I open up a google chrome webpage now, the extension has links to anything I've bookmarked, has a seperate list of links that I visit the most, has a list of apps, a list of recently closed pages, sticky notes (that stay there even if you close the page), and also options to add your sticky note reminder to your google calendar or put it in an email. It's very cool and it's free!! There's also other great apps like AdBlock--I never have to deal with ads on FB or anywhere else anymore!!!
I hope this helps.
