Do you fax or email documents? My printer/fax has bit the dust and I’m wondering if I should just buy a printer without fax capabilities. I don’t use the fax option very often but when I do need it it’s nice to have. Is scanning and emailing a document more acceptable?

The price of printers has come down substantially since we bought ours a few years ago; ours is a printer/copier/fax....if you are buying another printer anyway, I would get one that has a fax also....price shouldn’t really be much different with or without the fax. There are probably some instances where a fax is required instead of email.

Agree with the previous poster.

I don’t fax because I don’t have a landline.

Email should cover it.

Depends on what the other persons has or wants. I used to fax all of the time and now, never. I no longer have a land line and most places ask for e-mail.

E-mail. Have never had a fax hookup.

My husband passed away last year so I had a lot of notifications and changes to make with various companies out of my state. Most gave me options: snail mail, fax, or email. Most preferred communication by email, and I got the quickest responses that way.
I believe that scanning, then emailing a document is considered the same as faxing in most situations now. However, as others have stated, most of the new printers have fax, copy, and print options.

Since email isn't a secure method of commmunication, I use fax when I need to get documents with personal and private information to someone quickly. I never put anything in an email that I wouldn't put on the back of a postcard.

On the rare occasion when i need to fax something I go to the local office store in my town and have them do it for $1/page.
