Let's see if I can get you on your way, @hoosieroriginal .
On the right side of the GWX Control Panel page click on "Download Installer".
Once you do that, Windows should come up with a dialog box asking you if you want to Run or Save the program and the program will install from there.
It didn't take long for it to install for me...and there is a series of setup steps. The User Manual will take you through those so that you know what to do. HTH's
.
It's a fairly simple process so you should be on your way quidkly.![]()
PS...The site I used and recommend is Ultimate Outsider as it is where the program originates.

@Gokat- I think I did it- when it brought up the menu - it said it WOULD allow Windows 10 installation - I clicked button to say not to allow it. Thanks.

Now that you have GWX installed, @hoosieroriginal, here's some info I posted earlier on what to check on the GWX page. Just double-click on the "10" to enter it.
Click to clear Update Cache ...(should show on your screen)
"Automatically install Windows Updates" should say NO.
Click to change Windows Update settings. (should show on your screen.
Enable Monitor Mode. (should show on your screen)
Enable "Non-critical Windows 10 settings" (should show on your screen)
Also, FYI, there is a black bar across the top of the GWX Control Panel program screen. The "10" in the upper lefthand corner can be clicked to access some housekeeping available for the program, including "Check for Updates". Thus far, the developer hasn't added anything earth shaking and has automatically updated the program for all the users when he improves it. I check periodically anyway...just in case MS decides to add additional Win 10 Update files as the July 29th date creeps nearer.

Gokat - You enable the 'non-critical Windows 10 settings'?
On that field mine says 'Click to enable non critical Windows 10 settings'. So I did NOT click on that because I thought I didn't want to enable that.
Am I confused?
It's possible. I just figured, without really having a clue, that I didn't want to enable that. Please advise. Thanks! ![]()

What I mean by that @chickenbutt , Is:
"Click to Enable Non-critical" ...
should be showing on your screen.
I hesitate to get too involved with the guts of the program as that is not my intent in posting about it here. I don't support it. That's for "big bucks" Josh!
You can more than likely get a better understanding from the link to the User Manual on the lower right of the GWX screen. The last thing I want to do is confuse the issue. Sorry about that.

Clear Update Cache ...Yes.
"Automatically install Windows Updates" should say NO.
Your Windows Update settings should be set to "check for windows updates but let me decide to download and install". (from memory)
Enable Monitor Mode. (should show on your screen)
Enable "Non-critical Windows 10 settings" (should show on your screen)

Oh good. Thank You so much!! I didn't think I should be enabling that but for a second there I thought my, rapidly diminishing, brain was messing with me.
You did right. I just wanted to make sure I understood. ![]()

Thank you so much for this very helpful info.
DH & I just downloaded this and sure enough, we had 'hidden' Win 10 files, which were deleted.
It's great that we have so many helpful and tech savy posters here, so willing to help those of us who aren't so tech savy!

When you're installed, I suggest, as time allows, that you do a cleanup. I used CC Cleaner (freebie available online by Googling, if you are not already using it.) Also, run the Register Cleaner within that program. MS leaves behind files that you do not need/want (and potentially slow down your computer). This added step will take care of that. HTH's

I downloaded the CC Cleaner from Piriform, but I didn't see the Registry Cleaner within that program or listed as an option to run?
ETA: I re-checked the site I downloaded the CC Cleaner from and it automatically includes the Registry Cleaner as well.
Thanks again for all of your helpful info!

Sorry I wasn't online when you posted, @IG, but glad you were able to work through finding the Registration Cleaner. My bad for not giving enough detail.

PS...This Q forum operation is getting on my last nerve!
MS is bad enough! I wish they'd take care of business here and get this thing up to speed!
Another doubled post!
