I have Duck Duck Go and love it. It is good to see the privacy/security rating for sites you go to.

For instance, when I go to the main screen for QVC, it gives it a D rating. On the QVC forums it gives a C rating. On Pro Boards forums it gives a B+ rating.

When I go on my bank's website, it has a B+ rating. Other financial places I go have B+ ratings too.

I just went on Amazon's website and it's front screen has a D rating. My city's website has a D rating.  My utilities website has a D rating.

I have never seen any website with an A rating, but there may be one.

using DDG right now where can I find those ratings

@jackthebear On my computer, I see it up on the top of the entire screen, to the left of the place where you put the URL or enter a "www" before the name of the site you want to go to. Now, it is showing a D for this forum. Earlier it was showing a C. Go figure!

There is also another icon next to the rating....looks like a shield. If you hover over it, it says "show the privacy report for this site."

This is what the additional information is given to me if I hover over the rating or the shield.

These are the two icons I am talking about. You can see the "D" for the security rating and the shield to the left of it.

@jackthebear I've attached another example. This is from the new Pro Boards that was set up as an alternative place to go. As you can see it has a B+ rating. That's probably because is a closed/private (or whatever that is called) forum. Whereas, the QVC forum is public.

If you search something on DDG....then do the same on Google....

You will see how much Google filters what you can see....

Has anyone here tried the DuckDuck.go web browser?  I've been seeing alot of ads for it lately.  Its not supposed to track your browsing hisory, no cookies, etc.  I wonder if it's a safe site, or if it's safe to download.

It's a very good no tracking you search engine that doesn't keep cookies and such.  They do show you ads but they will say ad and it's not picture ads.

It works as long as you don't use anything outside of that search engine.  For instance if you have it on your Firefox Browser don't go to youtube or anything google.  That messes it up and you have to wait till it's cleared up, which could take a week or two then you're back to not being tracked.

@Wendy Lou Hoo

Yes, I've been using it for several months.  I like using the DuckDuckGo iPad app.  It's great!

I don't care for DDG's search engine. Is there a way to make my search engine default to google? My pc says it is alreaded defaulting to google but it always goes to DDG when I go to search for something.

@SilleeMee,  check which engine is listed in your browser as the default engine.
