I have an all in one printer scanner fax etc.

But when you scan into it, you can choose either JPG or PDF but it goes in my "documents". I want it to go into a separate folder. Like go straight into "word" or something.

When you use these "bar" type scanners, where does the document go?

Hi scotttie,

The type of scanner makes no difference. The "documents folder" is the default folder for most all brands of scanners, and sometimes even other peripherals.

When you scan on any scanner you can pick the destination of the file you are scanning and saving. I've had 6 scanners over the years and every one of them had the option to put the files in any folder you wanted to place them.

Before I scan a new document or picture, I make a specific folder for that file and I direct that file or picture to the folder. Now you have to make the folder before you scan and try to save it to something other than the default "documents" folder. Otherwise the folder will not show up on your "C" drive when you enter "save as or save in", because the folder has not yet been made for it and you will not see it.

Not sure what you mean by "bar type scanners". The new scanner I have, the one I put a picture of in my other post, I scan directly on the Micro SD Card. After I have all my scanning done I connect the scanner, via USB cable, to my computer.

I then go to "My Computer" and find the new drive letter, mine is now "F drive" and open it. Within that folder is another folder I have to open and then up comes the things I scanned onto the SD card. I then choose what folder I want to put them in and I also "name the file" I am putting in that folder.

Lots of typing here and hopefully you are getting what I am putting down. If not, let me know what you might not understand and I will try to break it down into something that will make it easier for you to follow what I am saying.

Take care,
