I've had a desktop computer since the MAC came out in 1984. Wouldn't be without one.
I am just more comfortable doing business and banking on my desktop with a keyboard.
I'm old!

We have a tablet that we used to use when we traveled. Hated it. Upgrade to a somewhat lightweight lap top. I don't even have a smartphone. Cannot imagine doing all my computer work on a tablet or ipad. Just for the keyboard alone a computer is worth it, IMO.

I've typed on a standard keyboard for decades, so fast and easy for me. The smaller keyboards which come with tablets are not the best for me, too compressed. I also like the larger monitor which comes with a desktop or a laptop. I know desktops are on their way out..

Laptop for me. Just got a new one. I really don't like the mobile app experience. I mostly use my tablet for travel to work jigsaw puzzles on the plane. I thought I would use it more for social media, but for some reason Facebook has decided to get rid of the Most Recent function for the newsfeed and after the 1st couple of posts all I was seeing was old stuff no matter how much I refreshed. Luckily, I had also brought my computer with me.
I also use programs I can't use on a tablet. I'll often actually have 2 laptops open in front of me when I'm working on genealogy stuff. I have lots of Windows open and off to the side with lots of tabs open in each.

A new computer is necessary when your old one is past 5yo, 8yo at the very oldest. Old computers have old hardware which is incapable of accepting security updates. When you use an old computer there are many security risks.

I only use an iPad. It does everything I need it to do. My husband keeps asking me if I want a laptop but I always say no, not to spend the money since I'm perfectly fine as is,

I use my desktop computer do my personal paperwork, bill paying and emails that contain items i need to print and creating graphics and when i need to toggle easily betwwn windows.
I use my tablet for all my social media, googling while im watching tv...just about everything for entertaiment or knowledge.
No need for a laptop until my desktop fails and they no longer exist. I find laptops too compact and i like my 22" monitor. I guess i could hook up a larger keyboard and monitor to a laptop when time comes and can move around from one screen to another like ive done at work. Its nice to have 2 screens.

Do you? Beats me!
I seldom use our old Win 7 computer, but I will always want a desktop. Not into carting around anything bigger than this 10" tablet I am using now. It too is old!!!

I got a pop up today that said there may not be replacement parts any longer for my All In One desktop that I bought in 2019. They make a number of All In Ones still, and one of them has a 34" screen! I am thinking about it! My current 27" is still going strong and doing fine ( hope I didn't just jinx myself) and I love it. I had a tablet but a desktop is way more enjoyable for me.

Wondering the same . I bought myself a cricut and think I'm going to be forced in to buying a laptop. I don't think it will work with my chrome book or iPad. And my phone screen would be too small. Advice please from anyone using a cricut......
