Computer backup device

I have two CF backup devices that I use on my Dell desktop (Windows XP). The older one (the one that only backs up the data), works fine. However, the newer one (the one that is supposed to also back up the programs) has failed me. I've been in contact with CF, but even with their update, I'm still not successful. Can anyone recommend another backup device that will also back up programs? Thanks!
