Computer Software for Mainteance

Does anyone use System Mechanic for mainteance to fine tune your computer and does it work? My computer is running so slow pages will not load everything freezing up I can't even defrag it starts and within maybe 3 or 4 minutes it stops and a message pops up system was not defrag.

I do a quick clean we have McAfee that cleans everything but still having problems I saw System Mechanic at office depot and I was just wondering if it really works and will it work on windows 7 64-bit I appreciate any information if you use this program. My computer is 5 years a HP desktop is it just getting old and slowing down we have replaced the dvd drive twice and installed windows 7 but still having problems. Thanks.
