I agree with all said above - need to get a wireless printer - I pay my bills on it every month and no antivirus software needed. Right now we also have a windows 8 desktop so when I need to print anything I send it over there and print from it.

How do you 'send it over there' to print it?

The printer needs to compatible with printing from an iPad. You "send it over there" from your wireless router signal. The wireless signal coming out of your router in your home is your wireless network. Once the wireless printer is connected to your wireless network, all devices connected to the network can use it.

I should have added when you get a new wireless printer, read the instructions before proceeding. My wireless printer needed to be connected to the network first. Just like other wireless devices, it found the network then I had to enter the security number so it could connect. When you add it to your computers, install the software and select network printer when asked.

You don't need to connect it to a computer to install it. I had a wired desktop (wired to the router) and I was able to install and use my wireless printer without a printer cable. The communication from computer to printer and back again is done over your wireless network signal.

Our wireless printer works via bluetooth, not the router. It gets signals from all devices that have bluetooth capabilities. For instance our smartphones or tablets. My inexpensive chromebook does not seem to do bluetooth well , it does not always seem to get connected .That is why I e mail things I want to print over to our Dell desktop.

Thanks for clarifying the printer part. I think I understand.
