Thanks @Kachina624  @Ainhisg

So @Kachina624 , what you posted means you get a new phone number every year..?

@SilleeMee.  No, I've had the same number for years

  I make sure I buy a year's worth of service before the expiration date of my last year's service.  That way you don't lose your phone number.  My plan expires next April 18th.  Sometime the week before, I'll go to the TracFone website and buy a year of service only.  I have over 6,000 accumulated minutes so don't need any phone time, text or data.

@Kachina624

Thanks for explaining that part. Maybe you, or someone else here, can help me with another question I have...I'm currently on 'AutoFill' for a plan there and I need to change that to 'Single' purchase. How do I do that? I can't find a place to change that on my account. I want off of the autofill option.

@SilleeMee.  I don't know but they're always nice when you call them.

@SilleeMee.  There's a trick to buying cheap service time ($49 for a year).  It's a "special" when you buy something else.  So you put something in your cart (anything) then you add your $49 of service, then you delete the first item you added leaving the service, at which time you check out.  That way you get a year of cell service for $49.  Of course I'm assuming you have accumulated minutes in case you actually need to use the phone.

Yes, I know about that 'trick', too  @Kachina624 . But my autofill keeps cycling more minutes into my account and I can't cancel it. I think I need to call them and have them do it.

How about a jitterbug phone? If you are a senior you can find out about it though medicare/medicare its a free phone. I got one for my mother and she likes it very much.

This is kind off  topic.. but, I saw a pay phone in my local Walgreen's I was so excited to see one again because they seemed to have disappeared everywhere. I asked the clerk if it worked she said yes and I used it and this time it cost me 50 cents instead of a quarter back in day.I hope they bring more back to more places its good to have them in case the wifi  connection is bad or a battery goes dead. Just had to put that out there.

@apple1964 : Great news but if I noticed the phone - I would be thinking that I just stepped into the Twlight Zone.
