Re: Cable Switched from Analog to Digital - Need Help Programming My DVD- Recorder Now

1)  No need to be rude; and 2)  She said it was a player/recorder.  A recorder does need to be able to tune to the channels from which one wishes to record.

To watch digital cable or satellite, you need either a digtal TV or a convertor box.  To find the channels, you need to scan for channels.  If something goes wrong, scan again.   In order to use the convertor box, the TVs input needs to be set on cable not antenna.  If you use a HD cable box or DVR with a digital TV, chose the HDMI connection where it is attached.  They are labled HDMI 1,2,3,4, etc.  All of this choosing/scanning happens using your TV remote.

TV works fine.  Digital box works fine.   DVD (not a DVR) doesn't accept all the new channels.   TV is not HD.   But Thanks!

DVD players don't accept new channels they play DVDs.  DVD recorders can be connected to your cable connection.  Once again, explaining your problem correctly is important.  If you have an old analog DVD recorder that can't be connected to a convertor box and get the new channels, you need to buy new.  If it was me, I'd buy new or rent a DVR.

DVD player is a digital DVD player.   It's accepting the same channels it did in digital now, but not the new ones that the new box is offering.

It cannot be just a DVD player.  You must have a DVD recorder.  Do yourself a favor and buy new.

Wish I could buy new, but I cannot afford it.

1) rude? please. did you see my detailed suggestion post? and to acknowledge everyone but me? now that is RUDE, or maybe she just doesn't like me. oh well, life goes on!

2) that would depend on the input/output connections of the devices. if you would like to go into the exact details of the several ways all these devices can be connected let me know i am ready. you start(each detail now including all the names if every piece used.

I didn't see the, ahem OP, reference the word recorder in what i "quoted". I see, and i quote: "DVD is a digital DVD Player". Show me the word Recorder, maybe your thread is different than mine.

I'll be waiting, just let me know when you want to start the detailed many ways to connect: TV/CONVERTER/DVD/DVR/DVD RECORDER or any other peripheral audio/video device.  that can be with or without splitters/frequency modules or even the old switches. don't forget specificity when it comes to Digital Audio.

I did miss your DVD player/Recoder in the original post.  Most of your later posts only said DVD player which is why I posted what I did.  As I posted earlier, you need to let it do a channel scan.  There is nothing else to offer so good luck.

Well, cannot get a human being with DNA to answer at Panasonic.

I guess they don't have to pay anything in wages!

Oh well, I might just take the chance of automatically progamming the channels and pray it doesn't wipe out the ones I already had that worked!

It's a shame all you get is prompts.   I love how they say, "The call may be recorded for customer service."   Really, with an animated computer voice?

The new mini box is making some stations "tile" on my TV.   It comes and goes.   Wish they would get things to work before they make us upgrade our lives!

@Frosted Cake  Have you tried hitting "0" for the operator when the recording starts?  Sometimes that gets you to a real person.

Yes, about a dozen times.   Doesn't work.

That's ridiculous that they don't have a customer service that can help you.

Re: Cable Switched from Analog to Digital - Need Help Programming My DVD- Recorder Now

[ Edited ]

Had the cable guy out today.

Fixed the TV's as a main cable was faulty.   Good news.

Bad news, my DVD -Recorder will be obsolete come the day of the change over to digital.   It won't record ever again after that.

Even if I do an automatic channel search, the new stations will not show even now.    So, I'm out of my recorder, it will just play movies and recorded DVD's.

Of course, they want me to buy a DVR from them.  I can't afford it so no way.

We are all so controlled by technology.   They should make things compatible.   Oh well.   Everyone is in your pockets.
