Re: CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE

@Nightowlz  I Googled it and the steps involved were over my head.  I think I am going to have to call for help (local).

Thanks for your response.  Apparently, this is a VERY common problem.......thousands a month are reporting this.  At least I can still use my computer, but it is a pain not being able to listen to any audio without hearing that British woman.

To me it sounds like there is a program installed on your computer that keeps popping up. I would suggest going to the Control Panel (type that in the lower-left search box). From the Control Panel go to Programs Uninstall a program and click to open. You should see a list of programs that are installed on your computer. Look for MICROSOFT OFFICIAL SUPPORT and click that. It should be highlighted at this point with a check mark in the box to the left. Then look for Uninstall tab at the top of the list and click to uninstall that program from there by following the directions. @tends2dogs

eta - You might have to reboot after the program is uninstalled.

@SilleeMee  I found the control panel (yeah!) and clicked on the Programs Uninstall.  This MICROSOFT OFFICIAL SUPPORT was not listed.  There were several MICROSOFT UPDATES through the years, but not this.  I will keep looking around, but I must say, at least it took away some of the fear of clicking on new things that I had never done before.  It was always so overwhelming to go into unchartered territories LOL!  TA

Hi @tends2dogs,

The malicious program can still be listed there in your program files, but under a different program name that is not easily recognizable to you/us.

Below you will see a list of malicious software.

These are the real names of these scare ware programs, and what you'll see when you actually find them inside of your computer.

From what I have read about these progams online, they are what is called "scare ware," because you are supposed to call a phone number in order to remove a computer virus from your computer, and you'll be asked to give out your personal information if you call the phone number listed in the pop-up.

When you're in your programs file listing, check the program file download date for something that is more new or recent, in your program file. That should also give you a clue that it was something recently installed.

When you see it, you can then uninstall it.

Here is a list of known malware programs from the Malwaretips website:

Known malicious programs: YeaDesktop, Wajam, 1.0.0.1, DNS Unlocker, Cinema Plus, Price Minus, SalesPlus, New Player, MediaVideosPlayers, Browsers_Apps_Pro, PriceLEess, Pic Enhance, Sm23mS, Salus, Network System Driver, SS8, Save Daily Deals, Word Proser, Desktop Temperature Monitor, CloudScout Parental Control, Savefier, Savepass, HostSecurePlugin, CheckMeUp or HD-V2.2.

You can also run an antimalware/antispyware program, to see if you can delete it that way, too. It's another way of trying to delete it and remove it, as opposed to uninstalling it from your programs list.

Many people like and use Malwarebytes. There is both a paid version and a free version.

If you are using the google Chrome browser there is a place to check for harmful software. Just click Settings (far upper right corner 3 dots). Then scroll all the way to the bottom to Advanced. Then at the very bottom click Clean up computer . Then click the Find button. Chrome will look for and delete harmful software if it's on your computer. I've never found anything so not sure if it really works but it's worth a try.

Re: CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO REMOVE

@Toppers3  The known malicious programs were not listed in the programs installed on my computer.

I have AVG spyware and virus control installed on my computer.  I was under the assumption that you should only have one anti virus program installed at a time or they will "fight "each other.  I have no idea how to run a sweep.  Would it hurt to download the Malwarebytes with what I have?  I also noticed a Windows firewall program installed......I take it that it came with my computer.

As you can see, I am pretty dim when it comes to all this.  Thank you for responding. Woman Happy

@SilleeMee  I don't use Google Chrome.  I do know that, but I know this is a stupid question, but I use Internet Explorer.....is that the same type thing?

@tends2dogs,

I don't know if there is such a feature on IE. But I know there is the Windows Defender Smartscreen setting that can be turned on or off. This feature is suppose to help prevent malicious software from loading onto your computer. The default setting is ON.  You can access this by going to the (3-dots upper-right) Settings then go to Advanced settings at the bottom. In the Advanced settings, scroll to the bottom and look for Help protect me from malicious sites and downloads ...this should be turned ON.

You can use Malwarebytes with other programs. It is not an antivirus program like AVG.

When you run an antivirus or antimalware/antispyware scan, you basically can click on the program's "Scan" button, and wait for the program to scan the computer files manually for you. Then you can see if it has found anything malicious for you in the scan.

You would want to do a full system scan.

There are usually options for a quick scan or a full scan--something like that--and you'll want to do a full scan of your computer. This can take a little while for the program to complete.

Sometimes these malicious programs don't always show up in a scan, either.

It can be frustrating trying to find where they're "hiding out" in the computer. It can be trial and error trying to find them and eliminate them.

If one of these antivirus or antispyware programs has found a virus, it will usually put it into what's called a quarantine section in the program, where you can then delete it from there.

If you're using a paid version of AVG, it might have a firewall already built into it.

If not, you should have the Windows Firewall turned to "on."

It should be turned on by default in your Control Panel. You can check for it there. Yes, it does come with the computer.

And no...You're not dim. Heart

So, I would try downloading Malwarebytes, and then let it do a scan for you, and see if it can find this scare ware for you.
