a popup that keeps coming on my laptop - MICROSOFT OFFICIAL SUPPORT. It takes over the audio with a woman's voice with a British accent telling me to call the toll free number bla bla bla. I can mute that out and continue with what I am doing, but it is a nuisance. BTW this has been on my computer for over a month. HELP!
One other thing, I am super dumb when it comes to tech stuff. I hope someone can help me so I don't have to take my computer in.
Thanks!!

Is this only coming on when you are using the internet and are you using IE or Chrome? This happens to me when after my kids are using my computer and go to a website or click on something they shouldn't be.
I have removed it a few different ways and I'm trying to think of the simpliest way to expolain:

Tends2dogs I think you have a virus!!!! Whatever you do, don't call that number!! Run your spyware program and that should take care of it...I've had the same trouble with mine and after I called the Tech person we use he came down here and got rid ot it. He then told me I needed to run that program at least once a week and that should keep it away from your computer. I hope this helps..I really do. I know it's frustrating!

I have removed it a few different ways and I'm trying to think of the simpliest way to expolain:
- The most common way I have done it is by removing the program file from my C: Drive - Program files. Look for something that just doesn't make sense and was recently modified. Bonjour is one that came up recently. Delete the file.
- You can also remove the Add-Ons from the settings in your Browser but the how depends on which browser you are using and how comfortable you are playing around a bit.
I am using Internet Explorer. I never click on anything that pops up! My DH on the other hand, always does. Thanks for the suggestions.

I do know enough not to call the number. I had this before and had the tech people we use remove it. They don't do individual computer tech anymore, only business. I will run the spyware - if I can figure that out - really, I am that dumb. ![]()

Bonjour is something Apple uses, so be careful on that

Tends2dogs You're not dumb at all. We just learned different things in school than today's youth learn.....that's all. We're not supposed to be computer savy. At least I'm not, but I can beat this younger generation in other areas and when I realize what they are I'll let you know. I hope you can get your computer fixed. I get upset when something happens to mine. It's my contact with the outside world!!!

Not sure if this is the Virus you have or not. You can read about it here to see if this is what you have to get rid of it.

Is this what your computer is doing?
You probably don't want to click on my link so Google Microsoft Support Scam.

@odie96@tends2dogsThank you for posting about computer problems. It is a great help for people like me who are not that electronic savvy. I need all the help I can get.
Have been getting pop-up ad from AOL for "Barkbox" intermittenly for the last several days. Annoying .

“You’re not dumb at all. We just learned different things in school than today’s youth learns...that’s all.” You are so right, but for some reason, I never looked at it like that. My parents, along with most of the older people I knew, didn’t know all the things that I did when I was a young adult. But I didn’t expect them to, nor did I look down on them for not doing so. They knew things that I didn’t. And they had a lot tougher life than I did; I never could have survived their era.
”...but I can beat this younger generation in other areas and when I figure out what they are I’ll let you know.” Boy, this is me! 😄
I’ll have to remember both of these wise points the next time I’m beating myself up for not knowing how to deal with some electronic gadget or not understanding what’s happening in today’s world! 👍😊
