That happened to me with my old Dell and Windows XP. I couldn't use Internet Explorer anymore. I changed to Google Chrome, but with my new computer (and Windows 7) I like Firefox much better than Google Chrome. I was afraid to change browsers early on, but IE was SO slow it was crazy.

I guess if someone like you has over 11 thousand posts and counting you have plenty of time to google all day and night well good for you.. I stand corrected. I do not have the time and I do not have to explain myself to the likes of you a nameless, faceless person. Just so you know There has been several threads about this a few months ago , so a few months ago this was correct. And your no authority on this because, anyone could have gotten that link. Big deal! This link you posted can change as computer technology changes. I had enough of this discussion so I am ignoring you. SO, now you can post to yourself. I am doing myself a big favor. Bye....
Don't get snotty with me for pointing out what you posted was wrong.

The confusion over security updates for Windows 8 stems from the fact that there are two versions of Windows 8. Windows 8.0 was the original version when Windows 8 was first introduced. An update was later issued (8.1). You must update to 8.1 to continue receiving regular security updates from Microsoft. And please, please, if you are still using XP please upgrade as soon as you can. Anti-virus programs and assorted browsers cannot protect you from hackers who can and will steal your personal information including website logins, banking info etc. The risk is real.
