They filed Chapter 11 today, planning to close 101 mall-based stores.  They plan to keep some of their airport stores -- the ones that are successful. 

Since 2014, Brookstone has been owned by several Chinese companies.  But apparently business did not pick up.  Malls are closing are a rapid rate, this is just one more result.

I was in one a couple of weeks ago (first time in ages). The store had almost no one in it, the selection was minimal. Just not the Brookstone I used to know and enjoy looking at all the gadgets and whatnots.

I bought so many kitchen and bath items from Brookstone. In fact my canisters are from Brookstone. I like them still after all these years, they are polished aluminium with teak lids. Simple and easy to clean. 

But it has been years since I bought stuff from Brookstone. I read they were in trouble, sorry to hear that.

I always enjoyed browing there, but never saw many people in the store.  Not surprised they're failing.

I just noticed the other day that our local store had closed.  It had been there for 20+ years.

The store in our mall hardly had much merchandise...doesn't surprise me...

I've only ever bought one thing from them and it was a white noise machine, which I still have and love.  I might need to get another as this one is very old.

I also bought the travel version from them.

Their return policy was very strick.  I didn't like browsing in there because so many people were trying to return things and they wouldn't accept them.

Didn't know they were still in business.  Haven't been in one of their stores in decades.
