When you have to replace and Apple product (I would be replacing my Mac Book Air)...do you buy on line or go into an actual store?

The genius bar at the mall - well lets just say I don't think they are in the genius category and am not comfortable going there...they do sell product in the store.

I googled authorized resellers in my area and all locations are hours from me.

I am used to dealing with a shop that was locally owned but they closed up becasue Apple was squeazing them out.  I bought all my electronics from them for years and they did repairs as well...they were great.

About 3 years ago I had to have a new battery installed in the MacBook and it is slowing down again.  I am debating if I want to let it die and purchase a new Mac Book or replace with an Ipad.  I use the Mac Book for work but I think an I pad would work as long as I can use a thumb drive so that I can down load attachments sent to me from customers.

any feedback is appreciated.  thanks

I bought my Mac Book air in the store, but when I was working we bought a 21 inch Mac from Amazon, eet up was flawless as it is with most Apple products

@Mom2Dogs , unless you need to have someone set it up for you I would be comfortable purchasing on line directly from Apple.  I am planning on buying a new iPad on line from Apple and if I need help calling their help line.

If you use your laptop for work I would replace it.

I've bought from The Apple Store online.

Re: Apple products

@Mom2Dogs, I have purchased iPads, iPhone, and a MacBook Air from Amazon, Best Buy, and Apple. I've not had a problem buying online and trading in an item to Best Buy and Apple. My Apple purchases and trade ins were all online. I've purchased online and in store from Best Buy. Best Buy will price match from Amazon, Walmart, and other stores. Best Buy will give you a gift card that you can use for your new purchase. I purchased two iPhones from Apple online and then trading in two iPhones. They sent the phones, then sent the return packages with postage attached, and after they received and verified the phones, my trade in value was credited to the account that I used for purchasing. You can find the trade in value on both Best Buy and Apple's website. Just scroll down and you should find "trade in". Hope this helps.

I've only purchased my Apple products directly from their online & offline store.

Online:  I tell the sales rep exactly what I want, how I want it customized & where I want it delivered.  Never an issue.

In store:  If the  product is not RAM user installable, I purchase RAM from a 3rd party to max it out.  Then I take the product w/my receipt to the Apple Store (if purchased from online store, I have to RAM w/me) & have them install it which they do for FREE!

We have bought directly from the Apple Store, Apple website, and Best Buy. My daughter recently purchased a new Apple Watch from Amazon and we have never had an issue.

Thanks, old habits die hard - I order very little online.

I purchased online and like others on here, called Apple support if I needed help with start up. They're great to help with that.
