Two iPhones and an iPad updated without any problem. As long as you have a backup on either iCloud or iTunes there is no reason to wait.

With all of the choices available, a lot of people still don't have a backup.

Re: Apple has released a new update, iOS 7.1.1

I did the latest update. Since then I have received two emails, identifying them as from Apple, (which went into "junk") telling me that my account would be inactivated in 24 hours unless I filled out the attached form and submitted it to them. Of course, they wanted me to put in my password. That didn't seem right to me. After I received the first email, I ordered a ringtone from ITunes, and it went through perfectly. After receiving the second email, I called Apple and was told they don't deactivate accounts. So, be careful out there if any of you receive strange emails from "Apple". Ignore and delete!!!

Re: Apple has released a new update, iOS 7.1.1

Yes, it was released on April 22. Apple pushes out notifications to users over a period of time, generally to avoid having so many trying to download from the website all at the same time.

For anyone interested in reading them, the two threads from 4/23/14 are:

There's a software update ready for download.

and

iOS 7.1.1 for iPad, iPhone, iPod is available

Thanks for posting this helpful reminder, Nightowlz! We're not here 24/7 and with all the threads moving so quickly, none of us are able to see them all.Smile

Thanks for the heads up, jaymar! Scammers have become sophisticated. One thing they do is watch for news about companies and create emails that appear to be associated in some way with the companies in the headlines.

It's always safest to be skeptical, avoid clicking links in email messages, and go directly to the website to make transactions, changes, updates, etc. (A bit OT, but the same is true with popups, btw. Don't trust those for updates.)

Re: Apple has released a new update, iOS 7.1.1

I apologize for this double post, but since no one responded in the other thread, I was hoping maybe someone might see this here and respond:

I'm having a terrible time with my iPhone 5--ever since I updated to iOS 7. Sometimes it won't let me slide to unlock and all the apps get jammed. I touch an app on the screen and nothing happens. Sometimes I get a call and I can't unlock it to answer. Sometimes I need to make a call and I can't unlock it to use the phone. Sometimes the camera gets jammed. I see what I want to take a picture of, but nothing happens when I touch the photo or video button. When I'm in Safari, the screen will freeze. Sometimes I try to enter the security code & it freezes after I've entered 2 digits. Sometimes I'm listening to music and I can't unlock it to turn off the music. Pick up my phone 30-45 minutes later and everything's OK. Then it happens again. Always seems to get jammed up when I really need it. I didn't have any problems at all until I updated to iOS 7.

Here are some things I've tried: clearing browser history, turning off/on phone, updating the latest software (I'm using 7.1.1), & taking the phone out of the Survivor case. It says I have 6.8 GB available.

Any troubleshooting suggestions are greatly appreciated! By the way, I'm also having this problem in my classroom with an entire cart of iPads. Ever since we updated to iOS 7, we often can't "slide to unlock" or the screens freeze so that we can't access any of the apps.
