Hey, CyberFriends.  About a year ago I was considering buying a Mac Pro.  I didn't but my husband did.  He's not crazy about it, lol.  Right not, he has a problem printing from it so I told him I'd see if I could get help here.

Up until 2 weeks ago, he could print.  Now it tells him that the printer is not on when it is.  This morning, he took it to the Apple store and waited about 2 hours for help.  They cleaned out cookies and downloaded all app updates.  So just now, he tries to print and he's getting the same message about the printer not being on.  He's really hating on Apple right now, lol.

I can print from my Dell computer so obviously the printer is working but I'm having a similiar problem with my Ipad.  My Ipad message is that I must enter a passcode.  What that passcode should be, I don't know.

So, the bottom line is the printer works on my Dell but not on my two Ipads and not on the Mac Pro, Apple products.  My printer is an HP 8600 wireless.  Thanks for your help.

Call the customer service at the printer, my Cannon often has issue communicating and their CS helps me clear up the issue usually very quickly

Also one quick thing, check that you are on your home network, not something like Optimum or Infinty Wifi, your printer only recognizes your home network

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

Re: Apple Mac Pro question

[ Edited ]

I have an HP8630 wireless printer, and an Apple Desktop.  Works beautifully together.  No apparent need to call HP, as your printer works fine with your PC.

One thing I have found with the Apple is that when it acts up, I unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in and it clears up the problem.  Short of that I would suggest you call Apple Care.  There might be a small charge, but they are usually willing to help without a charge if the unit isn't too old.  Sorry I don't have their number handy.

Thanks, @Perkup and @I am still oxox.  He took it to the Apple Store this morning.

I think you're right Perkup in that HP would say there's nothing wrong with the printer since it works with my Dell.

try to uninstall and then reinstall the printer on your mac, it sounds like its not recognizing your apple products

A couple of years ago my WIRELESS connection to my MacBook Pro was 'lost' and I had to resort to using a USB cord.

Give that a try.  I am surprised the Apple Store could not assist you.
