I've been a Prime member for years as well.

Could the alert about the item taking as long as five business days be for the non Prime members?  I've run across similar situations but I've always received my purchase in the two days service.  I was curious about the same day delivery now offered on some items and gave it a try. For a little extra fee, I received my purchase in late afternoon the same day ordered.  Pretty cool!  The extra nominal fee, I chalk up to a "convenience fee".

@Lyttlewyng  It's a Prime members only item.  I'm thinking it's just a mistake since it actually gives the time estimate as 2 days when I start checking out.

Could it have been that you weren't logged in to your account when you initially landed on the item?  That could have it show a non-Prime ETA.

Just a thought.  Smiley Happy

@chickenbutt  I don't ever log out of Amazon.  I have decided it was just an error.

@NickNack  I ordered several things the other day. All were Prime. When I started to check out, one item was separated from the others and said that it would take an additional 2-3 days to ship. That just ticked me off, lol, so I removed that item.

Not sure what's going on. I had never seen that before and I've used it for years.

@NickNack, there are some items that cannot be transported by air and that may be the reason.  For example not too long ago I added canned air to my prime order (the air was also prime) and it was shipped separately by ground and took five days to get here.

That is a bit ironic to me because I am in western NC and there are at least two, perhaps three, major Amazon distribution centers within seven hour drives so I know air transport by UPS is not needed.

@ID2 @Qgirl26  Yes, it definitely says Amazon Prime eligible.  I actually chose to only pull up Prime items, too.

That's really weird then. I would be upset at that too. If it says Amazon Prime eligible, it should come in 2 days. It sounds like an item that should not be consider prime.

@Qgirl26  Not only does it say Amazon Prime, it's available only to Prime members.

@NickNack I have been a Prime member for over a decade but will be letting my membership lapse next month as for me it is no longer worth the $99.

Many of the items marked as Prime are not coming within the two day window and at first I chalked it up to Amazon building a new hub about a half hour from me but the delays have continued and although I appreciate them extending the Prime renewal it has become slightly aggravating.

Please know this is just for me and when I ordered a large volume from Amazon the Prime membership was a great deal but now that my lifestyle has changed it no longer applies so I'll just have to wait a bit to gather my purchases into one bundle to get the free shipping . . . I don't mind waiting . . . Smiley Happy

@Reba055 @Marp  @momtochloe  That's interesting that you all are seeing the delays, too.  I just found another item that says it's Prime free delivery but will take another 2-3 days to process.

@NickNack I'll also add the final reason why I am letting my Prime membership lapse.

Since they have built an additional hub not far from me not only am I receiving packages a bit delayed but when I run into the delivery people (these are Amazon employees) they are running around like crazy.  It's jawdropping to watch them to tell the truth.  They park their vans illegally and literally run to the door to drop off the package as I am assuming either they are being tracked or if they deliver in a certain timeframe they will be rewarded (which is fine if the timeframe is reasonable but this reminds me of when Domino's had that 30 minute delivery guarantee and got in trouble when many of their drivers ended up in traffic accidents).

I have read several articles about Amazon's warehouse practices and at first ignored them but now that I see them being played out in my neighborhood I am no longer interested in doing business with them as I do not see this happening with UPS or FedEx.  They work efficiently but don't look like rats in a maze.  I'll try and find local businesses to do my shopping with going forward.  It won't kill me to get up and go look for what I have been purchasing with a couple of clicks.

Sorry, just my opinion.

@NickNack  I order from Prime a couple times a week and have never seen that on an order.  There are some thing that legally can't be shipped by air freight like certain kinds of batteries or liquids.

I joined Prime in January when they had a new member special.  I haven't used it a ton so far, but when I have used it, it's been very nice and convenient.  I bought myself some earplugs, but they weren't included in the 2-day shipping thing.  They took quite a while to get here actually.

I ordered my mom an EZ Pass holder for her car.  I ordered my sister some large bottles of elderberry syrup, which they don't sell by us.  I love that I can order it and have it shipped to wherever I want.  That may be my favorite Prime feature.

I streamed Ray LaMontagne's new album the day it was released!  That was super exciting for me!  And an unexpected surprise.

I looked through the instant video section and nothing was that exciting to me, but I found a few movies to put on my watchlist.  None of which I have watched yet.  Haha.

I'm still trying to figure out the Kindle lending library, if that's a thing.  I thought I could check out a book a month or something like that.  I haven't really found any info in my clicking though.

Hope everything works out for you, @NickNack!
