I am not a Prime member for one reason.... IF I PUT $35 IN MY SHOPPING CART... SHIPPING IS FREE (FOR ITEMS SENT OR SPONSORED DIRECTLY FROM AMAZON). So to buy Prime makes no sense to me. I now have the KINDLE and there are features of Prime that might benefit me. However if they go up on the pricing I think I will keep my present status.

I will add the free shipping used to be $25 in the cart total.

I just went to amazon to turn off the automatic renewal of the prime, and the only option it is giving me is to end the membership. Since I still have 10 months remaining on my current membership, why would I want to end my membership now and forfeit the rest of the year that I have already paid for?

I know there used to be an option there to turn off the automatic renewal...I wonder if they took it away in anticipation of todays news? Or have they hidden the option in some very difficult to locate place?

I would send them an email.

I really can't blame them...It's a HUGE bargain for me because I order a LOT from them. Compared to QVC's shipping costs, even a $40 hike will be a bargain!

i use them all the time as well - save so much time not having to shop about, not to mention gas not used. even with the price hike should it materialize, i will end up net ahead in time and energy saved. love getting things in 1-2 days.

Found another post on this in VP, posted before mine so others have heard about it. We have a huge processing center so it's in the news frequently. Just commenting on what's being reported.
