More invites went out today, but I'm still on the outside looking in. Check the Echo page to see if you can add it to the cart. I can't. Vamp. Echo is similar to Siri but also serves as a Bluetooth speaker and music player.

I still can't order either. My mom just requested an invite 2 days ago. It would be interesting if she got one before I did.

They really do seem somewhat random in the way they're dishing them out. Each week there are more and more happy recipients and more and more angry non-recipients. Quite a few of what would seem to be lesser shoppers have gotten them. I just signed out of my Amazon account and tried the one I'd set up for my mother, but no dice. She's still on the wait list too. Ah well, we'll just have to let those early adopters work out the bugs so it's better when we get one.

I think it is like Siri. As to a waste, it might be. I don't use Siri often but I think I would use Alexa more. I like the idea that she wakes up when I say her name. Siri doesn't do that

I also think it's the kind of thing that may seem like a waste right now but in 5 or 10 years could be indispensable. I remember the 90's when mobile phones were just getting a grip on us. Most people thought they were a waste too. Now look at us

Eventually we will use them for more and more things. Like while cooking or doing anything really, you can say "Alexa" and tell her to add items to your shopping list. You won't even have to drop what you're doing to write the list. I usually forget to write it down later It would be interesting to keep a thread like this and look at it years from now!!!

The technology's I to interact with consumers is already here. Apple has an interactive voice at their order system. This is a male Siri. The system helped me before I spoken to a person.

I cannot order one but from the link I posted in # 96 I can see more stuff. From that setup page if I click the back button on my laptop I can see an interface like that guy on the joe videos showed on his ipad. I get a home page , shopping list, feedback page with my name and email, amazon music but it says no device connected I do have a lot of music in the cloud. things to do enable one click voice purchases, add someone's elses profile,

sooner or later they have to let everyone buy one those people in that amazon video had at least 3 set up

One poster on the Kindle forum had an Echo lost in shipment and they sent out a second one. On his device list at Amazon they had them listed as Echo 1 and Echo 2. So the software is there for multiple Echos. Me, I just want one. It is encouraging that people are still getting them. We'll see what happens next week.

And in what can only be viewed as a step in the right direction, Amazon finally got my e-mails flowing again. Yeah! Now if they'd only send me one letting me buy an Echo I'd be happy.
