Re: Amazon Echo - Articles re future potential. . .

I'm waiting on this one for now. Most of what the Echo does I already do with Siri. All my music is in iTunes, so this wouldn't play most of my music and would have to rely on streaming only. As of now, the limited uses don't justify the cost for me. Opening the platform up to developers will make a big difference.

Right before the iPad was released, my dad knew I had an iPhone and asked me what I thought of the iPad. I told him that as of release day, I didn't have a need for it and wouldn't be interested but that I suspected that in two years, I'd consider a tablet a necessary item. The tablet is just a delivery device and the apps and people pushing the boundaries with the apps are what make the tablets powerful. If they do that for the Echo, I may come to see it as a valuable tool that everyone will want. As of today, it's an unnecessary extra I don't need.

ChynnaBlue, I totally understand your point.  It took me some time to leave the old fashion flip phones and when I did, the adventure was on.  I did Blackberry, Android, iphone, but went back to Android because it felt good for me there.  I too had no use for an ipad or even a Kindle for that matter until something “clicked.”  Once that happened, I did my Kindle growth to the Fire HD 8.9 (64 gbs) and am quite happy there for now.  I’ve been with Amazon for years but recently had given thought to going all Google after I found out they had so much to offer.  Just had not gotten around to making that move and glad I didn’t.  The Echo, as is, is working out just fine for me now, but I do look forward to watching it grow as the articles state.  The Jetsons and Star Trek real time.Woman Wink
