Re: Alexa on the Fire tablet

@mima Congrats! I am no tech expert so I tried to explain it in easy terms for everyone. My Alexa on my Fire seems to be working okay. Just cannot ask long complicated questions. Not sure if this is the norm for the Echo or Dot because I do not have these Alexa products.
Hopefully Alexa will improve over time on the Fire.
Process was pretty simple wasn't it? Oh how we succeed with things that sound so difficult with a little time & patience. Enjoy your new feature!

@Bamabella251Yes, your instructions were great!!!  Thank you!  It wouldn't even answer "how is the weather" or "what time is it".  I'm thinking my internet wasn't working very well this morning because even my regular echo was acting really slow.  It would hesitate a long time before answering.  I didn't have time to mess with it this morning so I'll try it again tonight.
After reading your instructions I though "oh boy, no way" to myself.  LOL  I'm so proud!!!

Re: Alexa on the Fire tablet

Update:  I took my kindle fire to work and the Alexa worked perfect on it.  It doesn't work at home though. She just says she doesn't understand the question when I'm at home.   I have wifi at both places.  I brought it back home and it doesn't work again.  It must have something to do with my internet?

My regular Alexa says this when my internet service is down. You may want to use your cell phone to check the connection in your home.

My internet is working.  The problem seems to be with my KF.  I can't even load Netflix now.  I just thought to try it.  My computer internet is working fine.

@Nuttmeg  Update:  I restarted my internet box and everything works perfect now including Alexa on my KF.

I think my internet was only half on or half power.  It was working but not correctly on everthing.  Thanks for mentioning it might be my internet.  I'm so glad I didn't have to call tech support.  I hate those calls!

Re: Alexa on the Fire tablet

Pleas don,t slam me, but at age 80, I have a computer, phone and kindle.  Why do I need ECHO?  I have a list for groceries, an appointment calender, four TV,s and streaming, etc.  I can,t take her to the store, I realize it goes on your iPad. Or iPhone.  I watched the presentation today and thought, what a waste of time and money.  This is just my opinion.  I live in two worlds.  I like to stay up to date, but so many gagets makes my head spin.  Takes away time from enjoying life outdoors, or pAying attention to those around you.  My dog hates when I go into computer.  I would not have time for my children back in the day when we did a lot together.  It might help the elderly with dementia, but I would quickly get that if I find,t do a lot of thinking and reading myself.  Another way to get us to spend, spend, spend.  JMHO.

@Pooky1  I have both the Echo and Alexa on my Kindle Fire 8.  I have not used it much on my Fire since I do have the regular Echo.  What does the Echo do that the Alexa on the Fire does not do?  I haven't noticed anything, but there again I haven't used it much on my Fire.

Thanks!
