I am thinking about a tablet, iPad 2 vs. Kindle Fire.

Can you get online with a Kindle Fire in a Wi-fi hot spot? I know with an iPad you can. I already have a Kindle for reading and I love it. I just love the portability idea of being able to get online anywhere (I don't have a smartphone). What can you tell me about what you like or dislike? Any info would be helpful!
