I am looking to purchase a new laptop computer but not sure which to chose. I presently have a Dell and I HATE it.....Purchased an HP a few weeks ago but found it so complicated with the new Windows 10. I am sure it is just me, as I am not very computer savy, but Windows 10 seems so confusing. I am now running Windows 8. I see QVC has the ASUS on special and was looking for thoughts on it. Is it a good computer - the 2 year warranty sounds great... Please give me your reviews or opinions so I can make a choice soon. Would love an Apple but cannot afford one.
TIA - Jane

There is one day only pricing on one today, so that might be the one to buy. I suppose you could even look for an older model that doesn't have Windows 10 installed.

ASUS has been a computer component maker for a long time now with a good reputation. Their motherboards are among the highest rated and their other components are typically very high quality.
It was a few years ago when they decided to start putting all of their components together to make their own computers and they generally get good reviews.
I'm not sure how their customer service is for their computers, but they're typically very responsive to those buying their components. If you go to Newegg and read reviews of ASUS components you'll often find them responding to anyone with a negative review where they appreciate the feedback, apologize for any inconvenience and give them either direct feedback on how to fix an issue, or give them an e-mail address/contact information to respond to for additional assistance.

If you buy another new computer, it will have Windows 10. How will a different brand of computer with Windows 10 be any different than the HP computer you have now? Why not download and install "Classic Shell"? It makes a computer look like an older version of Windows.

We only ever had one Asus, it crashed about 3 months after the warrenty ran out.
We have a few 'computer guys' we use to maintain our laptops each one that looked at is told us it would be cheaper to buy another laptop then spend the $$$ on labor to rebuild it.
It was our last Asus and to this day we have never had another laptop crash!

ASUS is a well known name. They have been making computer components for a long time now. I have no reason to think they would not put anything but good parts in a computer that carries their name.

I agree with the guys. I have always heard very good things about the ASUS brand.
So - my newest laptop, purchased a couple of months ago, is an ASUS. I am impressed. It seems to be made well and feels stable. It doesn't look or seem at all cheap, as one might have thought in the past that this brand represents. It's as solid as any I've seen and I couldn't be happier.
I got mine on Amazon. For less than $550, I have a new Win10 with a current edition i7 processor, more RAM or HDD than I'd ever need. It stays cool, but I do use steel mesh laptop stands so that my laptops get plenty of air circulation.
I cannot think of a single thing I don't like about this machine. Well, I don't love Win10, as they try to take a lot of control away from the user, but I've managed to tweek everything I could to make it user-friendly and comfortable for me.

@Gemmy, if you're running Win 8 now, then the Classic Shell free download (which you can Google and add, if you choose) might help you acclimate to Win 10 more easily. If you're looking to purchase a new pc, Windows 10 is the way to go. Anything else will only delay the learning curve that much longer. ![]()
My only thought on the Asus special on the Q today is the processor. I would be looking for an Intel i7 here as it's reportedly the best available now for running Windows 10. The other specs look good. Asus as a brand overall is highly rated so I wouldn't be concerned with that. HTH's![]()

Hiya Gokat!
Always nice seein' ya.
The only thing I want to add is that, when going to get the Classic Shell download, BE SURE you choose the right thing. I believe it's classicshell.net.
The reason I say this is that there is some other entity that has something that can easily be mistaken for CS and I almost chose that one, once. I don't know if it's anything nefarious for sure, but I got out of there fast and was more careful to go to the proper site. ![]()
