I have been wanting a security camera for sometime now.  I caught this presentation last night.  Does anyone have this brand and do you like it?  Is it easy to install?

I have four Arlo cameras, but not the ones being offered, which are the newer ones.

They seem to work the same, but the "picture" on the newer versions looks better.

We like them a lot.  We also ordered the solar chargers, one for each camera.  It was a big pain to have to plug in the cameras to have them charge.

The battery can be worn down if your camera is being used a lot....like if you live on a busy street, or in our case, the fan for our heat pump turns on...it will pickup all movement.

They work well without the plan you can purchase, but you can only view the cameras in real time....like when somone is at the door.  Once they leave, you have no recording, so the paid plan is almost needed.

I am pretty handy with electronics, but had trouble with these.  My son had them up and running in five minutes and it was actually easy after I watched him.

They are easy to install and hook up the solar chargers, but hooking them up to the Internet is a little tricky until you figure it out.

We get a notice on the phone and iPAD when the cameras spot movement and we can speak to visitors or sound an alarm from anywhere....works great.  You can adjust your settings for being home or away.

I have no complaints....recommend you get a solar charger for each camera and purchase the plan to save recordings.  I think you get a free 30 days of the plan.

You can buy xtra cameras, chargers and other accessories from the Arlo website to keep adding and upgrading your system.

@Carmie,  do you know how far away from the camera motion is detected?  For example if someone is approaching will the camera activate at 50 feet or must the person be closer?

Also, how fast is the communication between the camera and the device receiving the notification?

Re: ARLO TS HSN 1/21

[ Edited ]

@Marp   They will activate at 50 feet.  From my front door and side yard garage door (we are on a corner lot) it is 30 feet to the curb.

We can easily see into the street and beyond into the neighbors property.

Of course, it depends on how you face your cameras.  We have the side cameras faced into our driveway, and some on the deck faced towards our back door.

The notification is in realtime.  It is immediate. There is no delay.

Thank you @Carmie, that information will go a long way helping me make a decision.
