Today, marks the release of our newest AOL Desktop software—AOL Desktop Gold. With enhanced security features and automatic updates, this version is better, more secure, and has the same look and functionality you know and love. Unlike past versions, it will require a small monthly fee.

all older versions of AOL Desktop software will be discontinued in 30 days. Access to your current version will be discontinued at that time.
I had no idea AOL was still in business. Personally, I wouldn't pay for it.

I would not pay.

I still have an ancient AOL email address I rarely use. It is free and i got nothing about AOL Gold.
To me this sounds like a charge for AOL software to use their browser or for dial-up. Does anyone even use dial-up anymore?

Don't fall for it. You can keep your AOL email addresses and log on for free via their website.

I do not have dial up but I still use their browser. My son does not want us to pay but I wanted everything to stay the same. I am use to it. I would have to learn how to use another browser. Not thrilled about that.

Learning new things is good for you. Only you can decide if paying for something you can get free is worth it.

A new browser will become familiar in no time. You can still access AOL mail. You mentioned a son, can he show you how to use a new browser? Firefox or Chrome are good.

I've never used AOL in all my years on the internet. It's amazing they're still around.

@PinkyPetunia Yes he has already been showing me things and I do not care for it. I would be willing to pay the $3.99 but I have a feeling the price will change after they get everyone signed up. Then I would cancel my service. Right now less then a dollar a week doesn't sound too bad. Also I may have to try the updated version and see if I even like that. It is free for 30 days.
Thank you to everyone who has replied!
