In the course of buying a vacuum from QVC, I applied online for a Q Card, filling out all the required information, and was immediately denied,
Some days later, I received an email from Synchrony Bank, with whom I have made previous purchases and paid for in installments, such as for a BBQ grill,, saying I was denied because TransUnion said my application "has risk factors that cause us to be unsure of your identity."
I have no way of knowing what these "risk factors" are, as all I did was fill out the required information on the QVC site. So I have written to TransUnion for an explanation, though I'm pessimistic about receiving a personalized response.
The irony: I am a retired attorney whose TransUnion credit score as of today is -are you ready for this?- 821. My only debt is my mortgage, and I pay all my credit-card bills in full every month.
But I guess I am not a qualified QVC credit customer. Sorry, QVC.

How bizarre! ![]()
I wonder how many other qualified applicants have been rejected and how many sales were lost as a result.

Call the credit department at Synchrony Bank. Surely you know that is your solution to find out why. Perhaps something on the application might be filled with a typo or heaven forbid you have your ID hacked, data breach or you got phished recently and you are not aware. This may not be QVCs fault, nor yours. Get to the bottom of it.

@LizzieInSRQ I agree. The denial came from Synchrony, not from QVC. With any sponsored credit cards, the bank is within its right to make the denial with reason. Reason was offered. I'm surprised the attorney seemed unaware this happens more often now that there are so many scammers at work.

I went through a Credit Card hack and tried to reapply for my Synchrony Bank Q card and was told my identity was in question and asked to send a five minute video and scan front and back of my Driver's licence. I told them forget it!
No problem with my major two cards. New cards and numbers sent with in a week. Very helpful and supportive.

Did you call Synchrony? That would be my first step.
Then I'd log into Experian and look at my credit history.
Scammers love high credit scores. Depending on what you find, you may want to lock your credit at Experan etc.

ok
if a credit request anywhere is submitted in my name or social with incorrect information i want it declined
and i understand why the requester would not be given the details of the reason
i would just inquire with the creditor as to what information they needed

@DavidLV, obviously, according to your own words, the problem has nothing to do with QVC or your credit worthiness it has to do with TransUnion not being certain it was actually you that made the application.
As a "retired attorney" you should know what you need to do and that is by communicating with TransUnion and Synchrony.

are you saying you want credit opened in your name even if the requester cannot be identified as you?
are you saying you want this requester given the exact reason so they can then continue to protential fraud?
were you really an attorney?

Hope you find out the true issue on the denial @DavidLV . As you know, this was not the Q's decision, but Synchrony Bank.
