@BostonMommy - Even though a rep may have said they don't refund tax "anymore," in my experience, they actually never refunded tax on price adjustments (and really shouldn't have). There are two reasons for this:
1) The QVC policy is to refund the difference on the price of the ITEM ONLY within 30 days; shipping, tax, and any other fees are not adjustable. This is simply a courtesy to enhance the customer experience as QVC's prices change over time.
2) Tax is associated with the original price paid for the item, so when QVC collects tax from a customer, it is aggregated with all tax to be paid to specific authorities and is remitted to them on a predetermined, required schedule. Just because QVC is nice enough to give a customer a partial refund of what they paid for an item, it doesn't mean more tax wasn't owed at the time of the original purchase. And QVC isn't keeping any tax funds for itself; everything collected is distributed per legal guidelines.
And one final note based on earlier posts in this thread: The quoted policy about refunding overcharged tax upon request is literal—it applies only to tax fees that were above a legal limit, such as for a customer in a state that does not charge tax for food but may have had tax assessed on a food purchase from QVC.

@Nightowlz The OP is not referring to returned items, they are referring to adjustments.
When an item is returned, yes, you get all the tax back. When you ask for an adjustment because the price has been reduced in the last 30 days, the tax is not adjusted, according to the OP.

Where are you getting this from???

I couldn't find what you wrote anywhere in the QVC policy.
Accounting Tax calculations are filed electroncally. In NYS, I can deduct ANY tax credit that was previously remitted in my Quarterly Business Tax payment of a previous period.
My systems keeps track of all tax paid that I must remit for our business AND any tax credits given, which is credited on my next payment.
All states have their own sales tax laws. An entitiy as large as QVC should be set up to abide by all tax laws.

@RespectLife - In the FAQs section of the website, the article below is the first one listed when searching for the word "price." And I'm not saying QVC can't adjust for tax; I'm simply saying it's not in their policy to do so. They focus on item price only.

Is this tax policy legal? Do you really think QVC rushes to pay sales tax the same day it charges us? We can only request the credit within 30 days. I would think this gives QVC ample time to make a tax adjustment in what it remits to the state, and they are just keeping the $$$.

I was the told the same thing by more than one person. Apparentky the made the change last Friday because i often had to tell them to give me the sales tax back and told they no longer did this.
Sales tax is a pass throught cost, if QVC reduces the sales price in an adjustment then that reduces the sales tax they had to pay as others have stated. It should all be done in their system. QVC is not entitled to those fund as they are not theirs to use to pad their bottom line by stealing from thier customers. QVC is just the middle man in the situation as all other retailers.
Now if they stop playing games with prices then this wouldn't be much of an issue but they do, so smart shoppers should be get the total adjustment

I have always asked for tax to be included in any price that was lowered on an item I had purchased in order 30's. Thry have always refunded the tax to the refund.
Recently and just today there was a price reduction on an item I just purchased I asked to be credited back the difference plus tax. This was through the Social Team. Thry did not refund the tax.
I sent an email back asking why all of sudden is the tax not being refunded and she sent me a link but no where in the link could I find anything. This just doesn't seem right to me or legal. It's happens the last few times but I figured the person was new and I let it go but I guess there policy has changed.

Yes that is true, as of 2/24 we stopped offering price differences in reimbursements for shipping and handling or sales tax.
